Fridge Brilliance

  • Eric determined his strategy very early in the game. While the Bearded Man was also rather cunning, throughout the game he is entirely focused on getting rid of the Little Girl and the Pregnant Woman with no idea on what to do next if he somehow made it to the final 2 participants. If he succeeded, his opponent would inevitably be a ruthless Pragmatist as well who isn't going to sacrifice themselves for the Bearded Man. If one of the two Protectorates ends up in the endgame with him, they would vote against him out of spite for repeatedly trying to get them killed. Eric realized that for his final gambit to work, gaining their trust was vital. He mostly keeps quiet so as not to draw attention to himself, lets all the self-sabotaging players take themselves out first (College Guy, Raoul, Racist Cop, Lawyer), and starts the whole protector vs. pragmatist struggle while immediately presenting himself as a conscientious nice guy and sticking to that role until the end.

Fridge Horror

  • It's not entirely clear how young the aliens are willing to go to select participants. The Pregnant Woman's fetus is treated as a separate participant when it falls into one of the participant circles, suggesting that there's no limit to how young the participants can be. Children younger than the Young Girl, maybe even infants, might have been selected for some circles. However, the aliens took the Pregnant Woman into the circle along with her fetus, rather than taking one or the other, suggesting that the aliens did not initially consider the fetus to be a separate participant, so perhaps they draw the line there. The fact that pregnant women are shown to be survivors of the circle while still carrying their babies suggests that, had the Pregnant Woman survived to the end, she would not have been forced into a vote against her own fetus.
  • The very beginning shows that vote is done by closing one's hand, but it doesn't have to be done intentionally. If the fetus is formed enough to have a hand, it might end up closing by accident, counting as a "vote". It's possible that some of the tactics about a tie and similar.
