- In-universe, this happens to Burt when he begins to piece together what happened in Gatlin when reading the ledgers in the church, and he realizes that even with Gatlins isolation, it shouldnt have been possible for the cult to operate as they had for long without being discovered, much less 12 years as it has... unless there really is something like He Who Walks Behind the Rows out there.
- Taken up to eleven during the climax when Burt has escaped the children in the corn field, only to notice that not only is the corn free of blemishes, there is not a single weed, insect or even crow to be seen, something not even possible with modern pesticides.
