The boy who tries to kill the kid (now the man) toward the end of the story is the grandson of the traveler from the Judge's parable. The boy's companions say that his grandfather was killed by a lunatic and buried in the woods like a dog.
The Kid — at least according to one interpretation — may have taken the little girl from the saloon into the jakes and raped and murdered her there. It adds up when you take his previous impotence with the dwarf prostitute into consideration. He chose the dwarf prostitute because she reminded him of the brown children he raped and murdered in his time with the Glanton Gang. And when he found himself unable to get an erection, he ended up taking the girl instead.
Judge Holden is based on a supposedly real person. Let that sink in.
