Fridge Brilliance

  • Mark Prindle points out some Fridge Logic in "Alma Mater", where the recent high school graduate narrator refers to a classmate as "Little Betsy", which sounds more like something an adult looking back on their school days might say. However, the tone of the song makes more sense if you assume the narrator was held back a number of times ("How about that, they finally let me outta school") - maybe most of his classmates are considerably younger than him, enough so that he would call a fellow student "Little Betsy".
    • Alternately, he's reminiscing with his long term friends who are graduating with him — the ones that have been friends with him long enough to share elementary school experiences.
