• It makes sense that Rask Odai is a crime boss on Lothal, location-wise; We already know that Lothal is relatively close to Mon Cala◊.
• Vader and Palpatine appear to be very concerned about having the information about Wild Space. Considering the Myth Arc of the Expanded Universe so far is that there's something sinister in uncharted space and Palpatine has an entire contingency plan about it, it's likely that this isn't out of a simple desire to expand territory. As stated in Empire's End and Thrawn, Palpatine wants information on what is in the Unknown Regions and Wild Space as a part of his contingency plan.
