  • Ace Savvy: A New Hope: Lord Tetherby's plan to kill Ace Savvy is to swap one of Wild Card Willy's gadgets for a weapon so he will be blamed for it. It works.
  • A Darker Path: Taylor's planning for Skidmark is rudely interrupted by her becoming aware of some goons who intend to write a message implicating her in a multiple murder they're about to commit. It takes only a brief detour for her to Make an Example of Them before they can pull it off.
  • In Arcadia or Bust, Claire and Merlin meet Bill Miller, the alledged executive director of the Harrisburg Mineral Museum. When he learns of the Heartstone, he tries to buy it off of them to replace the calcite that was stolen (which is the very crime Jim was being arrested for under suspicion). When they turn down his offer, he threatens to tell the police that the Heartstone is the stolen calcite and falsely send Jim to prison.
  • Clouded Sky protagonist Tobias Talltree is at one point framed for stealing and abusing another Guide's Pokémon.
  • The Cutting Edge: Felicity Smoak tries to frame Naomi Singh for the corporate espionage she herself committed under duress in order to absolve herself of any wrongdoing and keep her job. Oliver Queen (as the Hood) swiftly exposes the situation, getting Felicity fired, but Naomi is soured on corporate life by the experience and rejects QC's apology offer to be rehired as a result. She ends up working for Oliver at his soup kitchen instead.
  • In Dedicated Hearts made Fullmetal, Edward manages to prevent Eren from killing Wily Tybur after he finishes his speech declaring war on Paradis. Unfortunately, Eren had sent two of his minions, Wim and Louise, to set up explosives under the stands, then detonated them to kill off the Marleyan higher ups, with the goal of pretending that the explosions were done with alchemy, thus framing the Elric brothers for it in order to spark the conflict.
  • Dirty Sympathy have Klavier, disguised as Kristoph, helps Olga Orly kill Shadi Enigmar in self-defense and pin the blame on his brother. Apollo frames Daryan for the murder of Romein LeTouse after his Batman Gambit on Machi killed the wrong man.
  • In Book 2 of Event Horizon: Storm of Magic, the Company has VIDI kill King Theodred and plant evidence to make it look like Grima Wormtongue did it.
  • In Death Note fanfic If It's Not Me, It's You, Light, after giving up his memories of the Death Note, comes up with a theory that Ryuzaki is Kira and framed him for it.
  • Ash is framed for the murders of Iris, Tracey, and Misty in The Final Battle.
  • For the Glory of Irk:
    • The traitor among the Syndicate crew steals the BFG they were transporting and alters the security footage to look like Lor did it. It takes Dib using Q's psychic powers to expose the spy to clear Lor's name.
    • As it turns out, the Control Brains caused the deaths of Tallest Miyuki and Spork, and let Zim take the blame for it.
  • Fractured Fates: Asuna Izumi is on the receiving end of this in Chapter 2 for Kaneki's murder.
  • In Gold Poisons, Jin Guangyao is at the receiving end of one of these, receiving the blame for the poisoning of Lan Xichen. Unfortunately, he’s the most obvious suspact, due to his suspicious past and the fact that he owns a vial of the exact type of poison used on Xichen.
  • A common Fandom-Specific Plot in Harry Potter is Harry being framed for murder and sent to Azkaban.
  • In the Alternate Universe Worm fanfic Intrepid, Vociferous uses Shadow Stalker's powers and appearance to break into the Rig, poison Piggot, and kill Armsmaster.
  • J-WITCH Series: Prince Phobos' narrative POV in "Enter The Oni" makes it clear that he really didn't kill his parents, but someone else did a really good job of making it look like he did. The rumors of his supposed crime ruined his attempts to bring order to Meridian after the infant Elyon disappeared, setting him on the path towards becoming the Knight Templar dictator he is now. "Return" reveals that Nerissa was the one who actually killed them, also spreading rumors about Phobos that convinced everyone that he was the culprit.
  • In The Lost Cause, as part of their plan to get rid of Jin Guangshan, Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang include one of these, planting evidence so that Jin Zixun takes the fall for the murder. It works, partly because he is no help to himself.
  • Loved and Lost:
  • In New Blood (artemisgirl) this is done to Rhamnaceae Rookwood in regards to the Chamber of Secrets openings/attacks by using some of Tom Riddle's blood and a medallion shaped like a Dark Mark. Hermione is able to save them from prison time as they were supposedly possessed.
  • During Spider-Man: Finding Home, Kraven the Hunter frames Spider-Man, White Widow and Hawkeye II for the murder of General Okoye, killing the general, stealing her spear, and leaving it in a manner where the weapon will be claimed by his enemies so that they will be taken back to Wakanda for trial, allowing Kraven to sneak in after them.
  • In Recovery None, upon returning to Freelancer Command, Wash is shocked to discover he was framed for stealing equipment from Project Freelancer as part of a Deceased Fall-Guy Gambit.
  • The Tainted Grimoire has two separate instances.
    • Crockett was framed for poisoning Micaiah.
    • An innocent man named Hans was framed for poaching.
  • A Thing of Vikings: A doux's servant is ordered by her master to make a False Rape Accusation against Sigurd (Snotlout) to discredit and possibly kill him (since according to the Varangian Guard's rules, a woman is allowed to kill one of them in self-defense against rape). He is only saved thanks to the defection of a co-conspirator, who told Harald.
  • Total Drama What If Series Scott frames Sky for stealing everyone's possessions in a way to get her eliminated due to her being one of the most helpful players.
  • In regard to the Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Three Strikes, in canon, Trigger appears to be a case of ‘wrong place wrong time’ who got pinned with the blame for Harling’s death. In Three Strikes, Trigger is deliberately set up to take the fall. The base commander of Fort Grays Island Air Base was a triple agent for Erusea instructed to send her as the point man of the operation, so she'd be marked as responsible for Harling's death. It appears it was orchestrated by Belkans to either make sure she was out of the way and didn’t get as skilled as the rest of her family or if it was just to get back at Pixy. Either way, she was as much of a target as Harling was.
  • The Unabridged Memoirs of Darth Plagueis the Wise: Plagueis uses his connections to frame Chancellor Farr for embezzling funds from a relief organization and diverting them to a Rim Liberation Front-aligned group on his homeworld, thus leading to his impeachment and weakening the Republic even further.
    • Plagueis later replaces Dooku's dead man hologram recording confession of his crimes (which also implicates Plagueis) with a forged copy wherein Dooku (actually Zam Wesell impersonating him) instead confesses to being Darth Sidious.
  • Warriors Rewrite: Yellowfang is framed by her son Brokentail of murdering kits. Killing kits (and healers) is the greatest crime that a warrior can commit. This would usually be punished with death, but Brokentail let his mother off with an exiling instead. Yellowfang, now "Yellow", is taken in by ThunderClan, who recognize that she has been framed.
  • In the Invader Zim fic Witching Hour, an alternate universe set in Medieval times, it ultimately turns out that all the strange events surrounding Gaz that get her accused of witchcraft were arranged by Zim, both to get revenge on her for years of torment by getting her burned at the stake, and also to taint the royal family's reputation as part of a long-term plan to lead a peasant revolt against them.
