Ace Savvy: A New Hope is a fanfiction of The Loud House written by UnderratedHero and the first installment of the Heroverse. It stars Lincoln McBride who witnesses the death of the greatest hero of Royal Woods, Ace Savvy and when he ends up gaining powers himself he steps up as the new Ace Savvy.

The fic can be found here on FanFiction.Net and here on Archive of Our Own.

This fanfic contains examples of:

  • Accidental Murder: while Wild Card Willy did end up killing Ace Savvy, he did not intend to, as he had no idea he had been given a real weapon. He was horrified at what happened.
  • Anti-Magic: Lord Tetherby's plot involves using robots equipped with weapons that are designed to take on metahumans.
  • Big Bad: Lord Tetherby, the man responsible for Ace Savvy's death, wishes to carry out his nefarious plans on Royal Woods.
  • Bookends: The fic starts with Ace Savvy asking Lincoln to burn his house to the ground so nobody can get what is inside, and at the end, it is done.
  • Celebrity Superhero: Ace Savvy played this role when he was alive, and Lincoln does as well when he takes up the mantel.
  • Damsel in Distress: Katherine Mulligan ends up kidnapped by Tetherby as part of his plan, and Lincoln saves her.
  • Darkest Hour: Lincoln has one during Chapter 9 where his attempt to stop Tetherby ends horribly when Clyde is injured and he is branded a criminal. Lincoln nearly gives up but Jordan pulls him back into being a hero.
  • Downer Beginning: The fic starts with Ace Savvy being accidentally killed by Wild Card Willy and Lincoln witnessing the whole thing.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Lincoln gains Ace Savvy's powers by touching the red cube that was in his house.
  • Foreshadowing: Lincoln, in the beginning, talks about how stressful it would be to have powers. Later on, he ends up getting powers when he touches a cube.
  • Frame-Up: Lord Tetherby's plan to kill Ace Savvy is to swap one of Wild Card Willy's gadgets for a weapon so he will be blamed for it. It works.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: The guards in charge of guarding Tetherby's stuff are insanely bad at their jobs to the point where Lincoln comments on it. This is later explained by Tetherby being a terrible boss to them.
  • Heroic BSoD: Lincoln has one when his first attempt to stop Tetherby ends badly and he nearly considers giving up. He eventually snaps out of it and defeats Tetherby.
  • Hidden Villain: For a time, the true cause of Ace Savvy's death was unknown. It isn't until much later when it is revealed that Lord Tetherby was the one who arranged his death.
  • Hope Crusher: Lord Tetherby's plan essentially boils down to him having Ace Savvy killed so he can destroy the hope of the city, which means they will be forced to turn to his security company to keep the city safe.
  • Insecure Protagonist, Arrogant Antagonist: Lincoln and Tetherby have this dynamic, with Lincoln being reluctant to be a hero while Tetherby is an arrogant jerk who views himself as on top of everything.
  • Playing Card Motifs: Both Ace Savvy's have a card motif, as expected.
  • Kid Hero: Lincoln/Ace Savvy, Nova, and Eclipse are all very young heroes and don't have much experience as a result.
  • Law Enforcement, Inc.: Lord Tetherby has his own security company that already has a lot of influence throughout the world. He wants to spread its influence to Royal Woods and will do anything to do so.
  • Legacy Character: Lincoln takes on the mantel of Ace Savvy after his death.
  • Never Found the Body: When Tetherby was seemingly killed, his body was never found, leaving open the possibility that he may have survived.
  • Ship Tease: Lincoln and Jordan get quite a few moments together that show them as good friends, especially during their scenes together.
  • The Stinger: As much as one can exist in fanfiction. After the fic seemingly ends, we get one last scene where Lisa and Lynn are talking to Lincoln about how there is great danger approaching and how they are forming some sort of L.O.U.D initiative.
  • The Unmasking: At the end, Eclipse unmasks herself as Leni to Ace Savvy, with her admitting that she did it due to knowing who Ace was.
  • Vagueness Is Coming: In The Stinger, Lisa alludes to something really bad coming that threatens all of Royal Woods but doesn't specify what it is.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Lord Tetherby poses as a respected man that many people love. In actuality, he is a ruthless villain who was behind the death of the original Ace Savvy. Once he is exposed, this doesn't last.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: When Nova saves Ace Savvy from Tetherby's guards, she chews him out for the terrible decision he made to rush in to stop him despite being warned against him and, as a result, causing massive property damage and getting Clyde badly injured.
