Big City Greens

Foreshadowing in this series.
  • In "Supermarket Scandal", Bill warns Cricket not to sell the fake produce because those who eat them will turn against them and ruin their reputation. In the end, it's Chip Whistler who does exactly that.
  • In "Harvest Dinner" when Cricket and Gramma are asked by Bill to watch a pie in the window, Cricket complains, "What's it gonna do, run away?" Sure enough, it does run away — thanks to a mean rooster stealing it with nobody watching it.
  • In "Bad Influencer", Itchaboi refusing a hug from Remy when he meets him on his ship foreshadows his presence there as a hologram.
  • The last line of Tilly's verse in the opening number of "Green Christmas" foreshadows the a-plot of the episode, specifically Cricket's selfish issue.
Tilly: But holidays are best when folks don't think just of themselves!
  • "Reckoning Ball":
    • When Chip confesses his issue with his dad firing him if he doesn't apologize, Bill reassures him that he needs to prove himself worthy before he accomplishes his goal, and it can be whatever he wants in life. Chip appears to think and smile at what he said before he starts the apology, which foreshadows his true nature.
    • Before that, when Cricket is attacking Chip when he returns to apologize, he happens to correctly predict what he's going to do as that was proven in the final scene of the episode.
      Cricket: Chip's here to apologize...supposedly.
    • Note how Gramma was the only one who remained suspicious and angry when the family signs the forgiveness contract, showing she knows Chip is secretly up to something. She also doesn't give Chip her famous feel better butter biscuits like she did earlier with Cricket and Tilly.
    • When Cricket asks Chip if he's sorry, Chip stammers when trying to admit it ("No...yes? I don't know!"). While he is sorry for the damages he caused to the Green house and that he's forced to apologize by his father, he isn't sorry for his antagonism and escalating war against the family, and will strike back when they least expect it.
    • In the ending, Chip vandalizes a photo of the Greens with negative stickers, some of which hint at later events:
      • In particular, Chip puts a sad-faced emoji over Cricket's face; Cricket ends up adapting a similar expression as the emoji in the ending of "Chipwrecked" after Chip costs him his job.
      • He puts a skull over Tilly's face, foreshadowing him almost killing the Greens with a helicopter in the climax of "Chipocalypse Now".
      • He puts a thumbs-down next to Bill, which hints at the false friendship he forms with him in "Friend Con".
  • In "Time Crisis", when we first see Remy practicing for his violin audition, he comes to an abrupt stop in the music. He claims it's a weird ending, but rolls with it. Later on, it's revealed there's more to the music than just one single page.
  • In "Fast Foodie" during the "Burgs' and Fries" number, Cricket sings "I'll eat until I cry!" Getting stuck in the slide bloated and being asked if he wants to stay there the rest of his life is what makes Cricket finally break down.
  • Visually, on the poster for S2, a Wholesome Foods sticker can be seen hanging right over Big Coffee, foreshadowing Chip's takeover of Elkins Street late into the season.
  • At the end of "Country Side" when Tilly settles into her own room, she remarks that she can't find Saxon. Three whole segments later, in "Homeward Hound", it is revealed she left Saxon at Gramma's house.
  • In "Dirt Jar" when Cricket comes in freaking out, Gloria suggests it's because a villain returned from their past. Sure enough, the end of the season reveals Chip Whistler is still alive and lurking around for revenge.
