Tropes for the film:

  • As Himself: Billy Dee Williams makes an appearance.
  • Big Applesauce: Takes place in New York City.
  • Dude Magnet: Woo. At the start of the film as she is walking down the sidewalk several men get distracted looking at her.
  • Fetishes Are Weird: Lenny has a chicken fetish. Yes, you read that right. Things go wrong when he asks his girlfriend to dress up as one, complete with a full suit, wing flapping, and clucking. Yikes.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: In the opening scene, every passerby can't taker their eyes off of Darlene "Woo" Barnes when she walks around the city.
  • I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine: Jada Pinkett and Duane Martin previously worked together on Scream 2.
  • Marilyn Maneuver: A breeze blows under the helm of Woo's loose-fitting, pink mini dress as she walks down a sidewalk, nearly high enough to show her goodies. A bicyclist ogling at her gets so distracted he doesn't watch where he's going, crashing into the side of a sewer pipe and falling off his bike.
  • One-Word Title: Woo.
  • Protagonist Title: Naturally, the movie's named after the female protagonist.
  • Sassy Black Woman: Woo, but she can also handle herself. She ends up decking her ex-boyfriend at a club after he hits Tim.
  • Tagline: "It's Woo's world... we're just living in it".
  • Uptight Loves Wild: Tim is very mild-mannered, but ends up liking Woo's attitude and fashion enough to court her. She is hesitant about him for most of the film, but eventually realizes she does enjoy his company in spite of them being total opposites.
