Vampire Diary is a 2007 horror film directed by Mark James and Phil O'Shea, produced by Michael Riley and Margaret Matheson, and starring Anna Walton.

Whilst making a documentary about 'weekend vampires' (a subculture of people who pretend to be vampires), filmmaker Holly meets an enigmatic and beautiful woman named Vicki who claims she is a real-life vampire. By turns fascinated by and attracted to her, Holly thinks that Vicki could be her soul mate and soon the two embark on a passionate affair. However Vicki's lust for blood is growing and when Holly discovers that Vicki is pregnant with a 'vampire' baby, she is drawn into a spiral of death, deceit and betrayal from which she will never emerge.

Not to be confused with the book and TV series with a similar name, to which is has no connection.

Tropes:

  • Almost Dead Guy: Vicki and Holly are disposing of Brad's body when they discover that he his still alive. Vicki offers Holly the opportunity to call an ambulance and the police and save him. However, Holly cannot bring herself to turn Vicki in and tell Vicki to finish it. Vicki finishes Brad off by shooting him in the head with a bolt gun.
  • Blood Lust: A subset of the 'weekend vampire' subculture known as 'Sangs' actually drink blood. Vicki, who claims to be a real vampire and to need blood to survive, drinks blood to the level that she actually kills her victims.
  • Breeding Slave: Vicki tells Holly her mom was used this way by the male vampires, getting pregnant with vampire babies repeatedly while living in a house they kept her in for this purpose. Her sister and her were going to become this too, before Vicki ran away.
  • Camera Fiend: Both Holly and Vicki carry camcorders with them and compulsively film everything they see and do. Their footage makes up the bulk of the movie.
  • Child by Rape: Vicki claims that the child she is carrying is the result of her being raped by a male vampire. The story of her upbringing she tells Holly implies that all vampire pregnancies are the result of rape. However, Vicki is an Unreliable Narrator, so how much (if any) of this is true is unknown.
  • Coup de Grâce: After they find Vicki's latest victim is still alive, Holly urges that she finish him off, which Vicki does.
  • Disposable Vagrant: When Vicki's Blood Lust starts getting out of control, she starts feeding on the homeless.
  • Disposing of a Body: Vicki and Holly dispose of Brad's body by wrapping it in a blanket and dumping it in the Thames.
  • Driven to Suicide: Hazel slits her wrists after learning that Vicki is going to have a vampire baby, killing herself so Vicki can feed on her blood.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Vicki has pale skin and dark brown hair, which helps to sell her claim that she's a vampire, as she looks very creepy (though still also beautiful).
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Vicki. Holly claims to be straight but enters into a relationship with her and, when she asks Vicki if she has slept with other straight women, Vicki replies in the affirmative and claims it is because she's not human so women react to her differently. It certainly applies to Hazel, assuming she's straight like she claims.
  • Lesbian Vampire: Whilst making a documentary, filmmaker Holly meets the highly enigmatic and beautiful Vicki who claims she is a real-life vampire. By turns fascinated by and attracted to her, Holly thinks that Vicki could be her soul mate and soon the two embark on a passionate affair. Vicki claims that her powers make straight women want to sleep with her.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: It isn't clear if Vicki really is a vampire, or just a disturbed woman suffering from a severe delusion.
  • The Modest Orgasm: Holly gasps softly while Vicki is eating her out. Vicki later does the same when Holly eats her out as well.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Holly and Vicki are both good-looking women. They're shown in their lingerie and also topless while having sex. Vicki is also briefly shown with full frontal nudity in the bathtub.
  • Pregnant Badass: Vicki continues to act as a Serial Killer while pregnant.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Vicki's beauty gets highlighted by her pale skin and dark brown hair. She's certainly attractive to Holly and others.
  • Screaming Birth: Vicki undergoes a screaming birth accompanied by quite a lot of blood. Of course, the birth might not be entirely natural. Neither Holly nor Adam are exactly equipped to help someone giving birth either.
  • Self-Harm: Many members of the 'weekend vampire' scene are shown cutting themselves. Holly claims that she used to cut herself when she 12 in order to escape her horrible childhood. When Vicki is pregnant, she starts cutting herself to allow Vicki to feed from her.
  • Serial Killer: Vicki starts murdering men to satisfy her Blood Lust: shooting them with a bolt gun and then drinking their blood. The police dub her 'the Vampire Killer'. She's arrested toward the end of the film.
  • Unconventional Smoothie: Holly and Vicki start robbing blood banks to feed Vicki's Blood Lust. Holly puts the blood into a blender along with ice cubes, lemon juice and Tabasco sauce and blends it into a smoothie for Vicki to drink.
  • Unreliable Narrator: Everything known about vampires comes from Vicki, and there is no way of knowing if any of it is true, or just an elaborate delusion on her part. Towards the end, she even claims that what she has said cannot be true, but this may have just been her attempting to persuade Holly to save herself.
  • Voluntary Vampire Victim: Vicky pays a homeless man to let her feed on his blood, though she goes too far, killing him. Later she also drinks some of Holly's when she's offering it. This doesn't last though, as it weakens Holly enough she can't continue. She's shown at the end to be feeding Vicki's little daughter with her blood, looking quite haggard given this. It may be implied that this kills her.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: After watching the video of Hazel committing suicide, Adam throws up, his head dropping just out of frame.
