Two Moon Junction is a 1988 American erotic thriller romance film written and directed by Zalman King and starring Sherilyn Fenn and Richard Tyson.
April Delongpre (Fenn) is the well-born eldest daughter of a powerful Alabama senator and heiress to an old and respectable Southern family. After graduating from college, April returns home to her parents' house for the summer to await her semi-arranged marriage to her fiancé, Chad Douglas Fairchild (Martin Hewitt), but soon she sees herself eschewing her posh lifestyle to have a lustful and erotic fling with Perry (Tyson), a rugged roustabout and drifter from a local carnival.
The film also features Louise Fletcher and Kristy McNichol. The film is also noted for featuring the final film appearances of Burl Ives and Hervé Villechaize, as well as the film debut of Milla Jovovich.
The film was followed by a sequel, Return to Two Moon Junction, seven years later in 1995, with Fletcher being the only significant actor to reprise a role in the sequel.
This film features examples of:
- Ambiguous Ending: At the end, April ends up marrying her fiancé, only for Perry to find April in his apartment, and the final scene of the film is them making love (with her wearing her wedding ring!), implying that they will carry on with their affair, but it's left ambiguous whether if April left her husband or if she and Perry they will carry their affair behind her husband's back. Return to Two Moon Junction eventually clarifies this, where April's grandmother Belle says April abandoned her recently married husband to run off with a stranger.
- Rich Suitor, Poor Suitor: April must choose between her wealthy fiancé and her newly found fling, who is a carnie. In the end, she marries the rich guy, but ends up with the carnie, too.
- Shower of Love: Perry finds April in his bathroom taking a shower, he joins her and they make love in the shower.
- You're Cute When You're Angry: Perry tells April "You're sexy when you're angry" after April gets angry.
