A 2014 American Science fiction film directed by Jack Plotnick that deals with the 70s version of the future where personalities and asteroids collide against each other.

The movie stars Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler, Matt Bomer, Marisa Coughlan, Kylie Rogers, Kali Rocha, Jerry O'Connell, and Keir Dullea.

It was released on September 19, 2014.

Tropes for the film:

  • Big Red Button: A crewman looks like he's about to blow up an approaching shuttle with a red button, but when he presses the button it turns out to be a pop-out cigarette lighter.
  • Retraux: The model shots look exactly like 1970s model shots. The strings can even be seen! Likewise, the sets are designed like all the limitations seen in actual science fiction of the period.
  • Slice of Life: It is more about how a 1970's sci-fi TV show would look if it were made in 2014 than anything. The main conflict of the movie is that everyone secretly hates each other but they're too drugged up to really do anything about it. And the Captain's gay, but that's not really a secret. Heck, the giant asteroid set up early in the movie only scratches the station's paint and crushes a moving van.
  • Space Station: The movie is a Stepford Suburbia IN SPACE!. The station has Space: 1999 retraux look about it.
