Smilla's Sense of Snow is a 1997 film directed by Bille August and starring Julia Ormond, Gabriel Byrne and Richard Harris. It is an adaptation of the novel Frøken Smillas fornemmelse for sne by Peter Høeg (known in English translation as Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow or Smilla's Sense of Snow).
This film contains examples of:
- Groin Attack: When Benja, the obnoxious trophy girlfriend of Smilla's father, baits Smilla one time too many when she's already seriously stressed out, Smilla grabs Benja with one hand on her throat and the other in her crotch, lifts her off her feet, slams her up against a kitchen counter and chokes her into submission.
- Stuff Blowing Up: The film replaces the novel's more philosophical climax with the MacGuffin being blown up along with several of the villains.
