Shadow People is a 2013 Horror film that claims to be a mixture of filmed and Found Footage, but is Based on a Great Big Lie. Radio talk show host Charlie Crowe (Dallas Roberts) is contacted by Jeff Pyatt, who claims to be stalked by shadow people. At first, Crowe is skeptical, but when Pyatt's second call ends with a gunshot, he's understandably concerned. Over the course of the movie, Crowe becomes convinced that the Shadow People are real, and that it's his duty to tell the world. The problem is... the more you think about them, the more they'll come after you...

This film exhibits the following tropes:

  • Based on a Great Big Lie: There is no Charlie Crowe. There were Hmong refugees who died in their sleep (also the same cases on which Wes Craven based the Nightmare on Elm Street films). There was no second set of cases in Kentucky.
  • Living Shadow: This is how the shadow people show up and attack people.
  • Mockumentary: The conceit of the film is that it's a dramatization of an actual case, and the events of the film are interspersed with "archival footage" with different actors.
