"The search for the lowest form of life on the planet is over."

Sex Lives of the Potato Men is a 2004 British sex comedy written and directed by Andy Humphries, starring Johnny Vegas, Mackenzie Crook, Mark Gatiss, Annette Bentley, Julia Davis, Lucy Davis, and Dominic Coleman. The film centres around the sexual exploits of four Birmingham potato delivery men, Dave (Vegas), Ferris (Crook), Jeremy (Gatiss), and Tolly (Coleman).

Contains examples of the the following tropes:

  • Awful British Sex Comedy: The film was conceived as an attempt to revive the genre, with its plot centered around Dave and Ferris' comical sexual exploits. The result was imperfect, to say the least.
  • Fan Disservice: Dave and Ferris are both made to appear as grotesque as possible for the sake of deriving gross-out humour from their attempts to have sex with the various women.
  • Fat and Skinny: Dave is fat and Ferris is thin.
  • Gonk: Not just Dave and Ferris, but pretty much every single character is made to appear as ugly as possible.
  • Gross-Out Show: The film combines elements of gross-out comedy with the Awful British Sex Comedy. In particular, there is a running gag about a character with a fetish for mixing vaginal juices with jam sandwiches.
  • No Ending: The movie ends with the lead characters chatting about their usual stuff, then Jeremy walks in to ask if anyone knows where his dog is, which then leads to both Ferris and Dave to look at Tolly suspiciously, causing him to look down sheepishly, leaving the disturbing implication that Tolly raped and possibly killed Jeremy's dog. Then the credits roll.
  • Unintelligible Accent: Many of the supporting cast members speak with incomprehensibly thick Birmingham accents.
