Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger vs. Gaoranger is the Crossover film between Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger and Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger which pits both teams against one another after the Gaoranger claim to have sold their souls to evil, meanwhile a new villain Chubuzo, brother of the deceased Chuzubo, plans to avenge his brother and take his place as the Second Lance of the Jakanja with the help of TsueTsue and Yabaiba who have turned out to be not dead at all, can the Hurricaneger stop the Jakanja and their new allies? And find out why did the Gaoranger turned to evil ways?...
Tropes present in Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger vs. Gaoranger include:
- Avenging the Villain: Chubuzo plans on avenging his brother's death at the hands of the Hurricaneger and Gouraiger.
- TsueTsue and Yabaiba also desire to take revenge on the Gaoranger for killing the Highness Orgs.
- Badass in Distress: The Gaoranger are held captive by Chubuzo, due to his spell tags restricting their movements, for the most of the film until the Hurricaneger destroy them.
- Big Bad: Chubuzo who with the help of TsueTsue and Yabaiba captures the Gaoranger and gives their power to the Jakanja, in order to destroy both the Gouraiger and the Hurricaneger and become the new Second Lance of the Jakanja.
- Big Damn Heroes: Tsukumaro comes to save the Gaoranger and Hurricaneger from the Fake Gaoranger and return the stolen powers to the rightful Gaoranger
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Oboro isn't impressed at all by GoraiSenpuujin Sword and Shield being formed, since "this is a special after all".
- Breaking Old Trends: This is the first Sentai team up film to feature the returning Team's Sixth Ranger with Gao Silver joining in. King Ranger and Mega Silver did not appear in their group's team-up films, and while Hyuga did appear in Kyuu Kyuu Sentai Go Go Five Vs Gingaman he did not join in the battle until the mecha fight (and was immediately knocked out at that) Gogo V did not have a Sixth Ranger and Timeranger did not have a returning team up film (and Timefire for obvious reasons likely wouldn't have been able to appear even if they did) This would become a staple of Sentai films since, with every member of the returning team being present.
- Co-Dragons: Yabaiba and TsueTsue serve as Chubuzo's right hand hecnhmen, giving him information on the Gaorangers while he gives them the chance to get their revenge in exchange.
- Crossover: Between Hurricaneger and Gaoranger
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Every fight between the Hurricangers and the fake Gaoranger end with the latter group defeating easily the former. In their mech fight, both Hurricanegers and Gouraigers are almost killed before the real Sae interferes and uncovers the deceptions of the Jakanja.
- And them same happens once the two teams join forces, with the Gaoranger utterly brutalizing Jakanja. The film somewhat implies the Gaoranger with their magical derived power and Power Animals are just somewhat more powerful than the Hurricanger or at least that their feral fighting style is very effective against ninja skills.
- Dragon-in-Chief: Although Chubuzo is the Big Bad of the film, Satarakura is the one leading the combined forces of Jakanja and the Org remnants into battle once they team up with each other.
- Designated Girl Fight: Nanami and Sae fight against Wendinu, Furabijo and TsueTsue in the final battle.
- Dirty Coward: Tsue Tsue and Yabaiba take delight in beating down the restrained and weakened Gaoranger but the second the Gaoranger are freed from Chubuzo's spell and begin to fight back, they both hightail it and run to the Jakanja for help. They do pick a little Villainous Valor once the Gaoranger recover their powers and fight until they're killed, but even then they're notably cowering before they are killed.
- Evil-Detecting Dog: Subverted. Despite them being able to detect evil Orgs. None of the Power Animals realize the "Gaoranger" they're serving are not the real ones, until the real Sae comes in to tell them, mainly due to Chubuzo's spell tags copying the real deal's DNA and overlaying it on top of the Jakanja's own.
- Face–Heel Turn: The fake Gaoranger claim to have pulled one.
- Gender Bender: Wendinu disguises herself as Kai. She even says that having a man's body was an interesting and fun experience.
- Hurricane of Puns: The fake Gaorangers all make one, pertaining to their colors. Later on, Satarakura makes one during the Fake Gaorangers' role call with the katakanas of GaoRed's Blazing Lion (Shakunetsu no Shish) instead turning Blazing 4x4=16 (''Shakunetsu no... 4×4=16 (shi shi juuroku))
- Hypocritical Humor: Saturakura chastises Chubuzo for referring to Tau Zant with the suffix “chan” (implying family like closeness), when he regularly refers to Tau Zant as “Ta-Za”, which is even more disrespectfully informal.
- In the Name of the Moon: For the Vs. movie, both teams give their roll call in succession. - My Master, Right or Wrong: Played with for the Power Animals. While they form Gaoking to battle Sempujin and Goraijin, and nearly destroy them without much protest that's only because they don't realize the Gaoranger are fake. Once Sae exposes the fakes the Power Animals roughly eject them from Gaoking and open fire on them and refuse to be summoned again until the true Gaoranger have their powers back and call them. On the other hand this all implies they WOULD have killed the Hurricanger if the true Gaoranger for whatever reason commanded them to.
- Omnidisciplinary Scientist: Subverted. Kakeru can’t restore a guinea pig to a human in spite of previously showing major fantastical skills.
- Pragmatic Hero: While the Hurricaneger want to reason with the seemingly now evil Gaoranger, the Gouraiger are having none of it and are willing to kill them if needed.
- Sidelined Protagonist Crossover: Downplayed as Kakeru certainly appears and plays a big part in the battle but he spends over half the film captured with the other Gaoranger males minus Silver (who only appears for the battle) It's actually Sae-GaoWhite that interacts the most with Hurricanger.
- Transformation Sequence: Unlike most other Vs. movies, both teams use their stock TV sequences here. As a result, Gaku's hair changes from brown back to bleached blond.
- Versus Title: In this case, the "Vs." element comes from the Jakanja taking the Gaorangers' powers and attacking the Hurricanegers with it.
