A 1981 American Black Comedy film, directed by John G. Alvidsen and adapted from Thomas Berger's 1980 novel of the same name by Larry Gelbart, about a quiet man (John Belushi) living in the suburbs with his wife (Kathryn Walker)... until their abrasive new neighbors (Dan Aykroyd and Cathy Moriarty) turn his life upside down.
Tropes used in the film:
- Creepy Blue Eyes: Vic, courtesy of some very light blue contact lenses to cover up Aykroyd's brown/green heterochromia.
- Spared by the Adaptation: In the original novel, Earl Keese dies at the end. This film finishes on a much more optimistic nod with him living.
