Monster High 2 is a 2023 movie owned and co-produced by Mattel. It's the sequel to Monster High: The Movie and part of Generation 3 of the Monster High franchise. It was released on both Paramount+ and Nickelodeon on October 5, 2023.

As Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura and Frankie Stein enter sophomore year at Monster High, the power of three is put to the test as they face even bigger challenges this year — new students, new powers, evolving friendships, and an even bigger threat in the form of invading witches that could not only tear their friendship apart, but could change the world forever.

This movie provides examples of:

  • An Aesop:
    • Don't lose yourself while trying to be what other people want you to be.
    • Meeting prejudice with prejudice only perpetuates the cycle of hate.
  • The Cavalry Arrives Late: Dracula doesn't show up at Coleman Eves until after Draculaura and her friends have defeated and hogtied the witches.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Clawdeen has become a symbol for human/monster hybrids after the events of the first film, and she quickly discovers leading them is hard work. She becomes so scared of rocking the boat that she asks Draculaura to follow the witchcraft ban.
  • Dangerous 16th Birthday: 1600 in Draculaura's case, as that is the day she will come of age to cast the mortality curse to destroy all vampires forever.
  • Election Day Episode: Clawdeen runs against Toralei for school prefect so her anti-witch platform can't overtake Monster High. It's a close call, but Clawdeen wins.
  • Foreshadowing: Frankie overhears a couple of witches say that Draculaura will become the voice of eternal peace on her birthday. If all she's doing is leading a movement for peace, then why should it matter whether or not it's her birthday? Because when she turns 1600, she'll be of age to cast a spell to kill all vampires, which they plan to force her to do.
  • Gilded Cage: When Draculaura stays at Coleman Eves Zamara has already prepared a fancy bedroom for her. However when Draculaura decides to go back to Monster High, Zamara reveals that Draculaura is not her guest, but actually her Prisoner and even locks her in an actual Cage.
  • Green and Mean: The Big Bad Queen Zamara wears emerald green outfits.
  • Hypocrisy Nod: Happens in the song "Not How Our Story Goes". Draculaura wants to leave Monster High to lead a monster/witch peace movement, but Clawdeen doesn't want to lose her friend. Draculaura points out that Clawdeen is all about promoting unity and would make the same decision in her place, which Clawdeen begrudgingly admits is true.
  • Hypnotize the Captive: Zamara casts a spell on Draculaura which takes over her mind and makes her chant the mortality curse nonstop before it takes effect at midnight. To break her out of the spell, someone has to physically touch her.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While Toralei is needlessly antagonistic towards the main trio, she's not a bad person. Her attitude is born out of fear for the safety of her fellow monsters. She's willing to put their differences aside for the greater good, and is noticeably less antagonistic after the threat is repelled.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Toralei has very valid reasons for being distrustful of witchcraft, after she was attacked by witches in France. And while she's wrong about witches as a whole being evil, she was right to fear a magical attack on monsterkind.
  • Laser-Guided Tyke-Bomb: Zamara insinuates that witches have been nurturing Draculaura's affinity for magic from the shadows so she would someday cast the Mortality Curse.
  • The Mole: Ellis was sent to influence Draculaura by his mother Zamara. He even pretended to be a vampire when he's really a human.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: The basis of Clawdeen's campaign speech. Monsters and Witches share a history of being persecuted, and that should be enough to inspire solidarity.
  • Power Incontinence:
    • Frankie has been getting upgrades to their body, resulting in loose electric shocks.
    • Demi Boovais the Ghost/Human hybrid hasn't mastered turning incorporeal at will yet.
  • Put on a Bus: At the end of the movie, Deuce decides to undergo a gorgon tradition of traveling abroad, which will take an entire school year. Clawdeen is sad because their relationship is beginning to kick off, but ultimately supportive.
  • Race Against the Clock: The climax of the movie becomes this as Clawdeen, Frankie, and the other ghouls have to save Draculaura before the clock hits midnight and all the vampires will be dead.
  • Sequel Hook: Deuce goes to the portal to leave but is met by the Grim Reaper, who angrily pushes him out of his way. He approaches Monster High saying he won't be denied again as the camera zooms in on a sleeping Frankie, whose eyes shoot open in shock.
  • Significant Anagram: The Salem Coven operates in the human world as a health food company called Coleman Eves.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: In ancient times, a vampire and a witch fell in love, and the vampire planned to cast a mortality-inducing spell so they could be together. The spell went wrong, and it killed vampires instead of turning them human.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The first official teaser and later the first official trailer spoiled the climax, such as Draculaura being locked up in the cage and even scenes from the final song.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Draculaura becomes one to the Salem Coven, as Zamara plots to use her to kill all the vampires.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Wraith silver, a magical metal witches use as a weapon against monsters.
  • When the Clock Strikes Twelve: The vampire mortality curse was said to take effect at the stroke of midnight, and Draculaura was mind controlled to chant it nonstop until then.
