Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps is an upcoming film that pays tribute to the fantasy films of the 1980s. It stars Tami Stronach in her first major role since playing the Childlike Empress in 1984's The Neverending Story. The film was written by her husband Greg Steinbruner (who co-stars) and is set for release in July 2024.

A lonely goatherd (Steinbruner), who was cursed at birth to never marry, is given three seemingly impossible tasks by a witch (Stronach) in order to find true love.

Tropes:

  • I Can't Dance: The goatherd says he does not know how to dance two steps, let alone a thousand.
  • Impossible Task: The witch tells the goatherd he will only be able to marry if he completes three impossible tasks, the last being the titular dance of a thousand steps.
  • Mondegreen Gag: An alchemist (played by Christopher Lloyd) mishears "goatherd" as "gopher".
  • Talking Animal: The trailer shows a talking dog, sheep and goose.
