Tropes for the film:

  • The '60s: The movie starts in 1962.
  • The '90s: Frank and Will end up in 1991 after being cryogenically frozen,
  • Human Popsicle: Frank and his challenged friend, Willie, from the sixties are accidentally cryogenically frozen and wake up in the nineties. Played pretty seriously. Shortly after "waking up", they go to a nearby hospital, still unsure what happened. One of them tells a black doctor how strange it is for a black man to be allowed to practice medicine.
  • Innocent Bigot: Frank and Willie are on the run from the police in 1962 for killing a man in self-defense (but framed by the witness for murder). One of them is wounded, and the other's kidney is failing. They happen upon a doctor who stitches the bullet but, after discovering the failing kidney, offers to cryogenically freeze the two men until a cure is found. They are awoken in 1991 (and even that was by accident), and, still confused as to what happened, go to a hospital. One of them notices a black doctor and say how great it is they're letting colored people practice medicine now. The doctor is a bit offended but doesn't show it.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: One of the duo tries to order food after spending a few decades in cryogenic stasis. When the girl at the counter tells him how much it is, he exclaims "That's highway robbery!... Ma'am".
