Tropes for the film:

  • Aliens in Cardiff: While America Saves the Day, the titular alien lands on (and stomps flat a good chunk of) Mexico.
  • Energy Absorption: The eponymous alien device/war machine is sent to Earth to absorb energy to take back to its alien creators; it grows ever larger the more it absorbs.
  • Feed It with Fire: The titular alien, an alien energy accumulator, wandered about Mexico and California absorbing energy from power plants and growing just a bit larger each time, so the Powers That Be decided to drop a nuclear bomb on it. This does not work as planned.
  • Mechanical Abomination: The menace is a colossal alien robot, resembling an abstract arrangement of cubes and pylons coming to drain the Earth of all forms of stored, manmade energy. Since the machine consumes energy, having an atomic bomb dropped on it only makes it bigger — it's only stopped by being short-circuited in a way that turns its feeding mechanism upon itself.
  • One-Word Title: Kronos.
  • Reverse Polarity: This is what is used to defeat the energy-eating giant square stompy robot.
