Tropes for the film:

  • Alliterative Name:
    • Dante D'Enzo.
    • Fred Franklin.
  • Amicable Exes: Evan and Trish TRY to be but it's easier said than it would be done, with Evan working more than Trish.
  • The Cloudcuckoolander Was Right: As it turns out, those drawing and predictions by Olivia were right—Two companies did merge and stocks for another shot up, so a "Yay!"
  • I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine: Murphy and Cox previously worked together on the Beverly Hills Cop movies.
  • Magical Native American: Johnny Whitefeather like he is but it's subverted because he ain't actually Native American, he's really Finnish-Armenian with a small part of Navajo in his ancestry and he doesn't actually do anything "magical".
  • Security Blanket: Olivia's "goo-gaa" acts as this.
  • Tagline: "What if your daughter's imagination... Was the secret to your success?".
  • Workaholic: Evan focuses a lot on his job as a financial advisor, which takes him away from his young daughter, Olivia.
  • When You Coming Home, Dad?: As mentioned above, a hella big source of the conflict in the movie is Evan being so consumed by his work as financial advisor. Trish is a downplayed case.
