It'll scare the living YELL out of you!

How to Make a Monster is a 1958 horror film from American International Picures, and is considered a follow-up to the films I Was a Teenage Werewolf and I Was A Teenage Frankenstein.

It stars a horror movie make-up artist named Pete Dumond, who is about to be fired after the studio he works in is being bought by new managers, who are interested in musicals and comedies. Of course, Pete isn't going to take this lying down...

No relation to the 2001 film of the same name.

How to Make a Trope:

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Pete has his assistant hypnotize the disguised actors to kill off the managers.
  • Descended Creator: Herman Cohen, the producer of the movie, plays the projectionist questioned by the police.
  • Man on Fire: Pete burns up in the flames trying to save his "children".
  • Off with His Head!: What Pete tries to do to the young actors playing the Teenage Werewolf and Frankstein, to add them to his collection of "children".
  • Shout-Out/Prop Recycling: Nearly all the monsters seen in Pete's studio were props and makeups created for other AIP films.
