Guilty as Sin is a 1993 legal thriller film, directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Rebecca De Mornay and Don Johnson.

Centering on a young attorney from Chicago named Jennifer Haines, her newest case is a charming man named David Greenhill, suspected of murdering his wife by throwing her off a balcony. Greenhill tries everything in his path to convince Rebecca that he’s innocent, but she and her investigator, Moe discover that he’s indeed hiding a darker secret than what is initially believed.

Tropes:

  • The Bluebeard: Greenhill likes to seduce women and start relationships only to end them with death because it’s fun.
  • Disney Villain Death: Greenhill is dragged by Rebecca off another balcony and lands hard on the ground, claiming his life.
  • Fiery Cover Up: Greenhill disposes of evidence that could incriminate him by setting the papers ablaze and then leaving Moe to die as well.
