Go Figure is a Disney Channel Original Movie starring Jordan Hinson. It was released in 2005.

Katelin Kingsford is a promising young figure skater who wants to be coached by the renowned Natasha Goberman. Because Katelin's family can't afford to send her to the expensive school Natasha teaches at, Natasha gets Katelin the school's last ice hockey scholarship so she can coach her on the downlow. Katelin now struggles to balance schoolwork, hockey, and keeping her figure skating a secret as she tries to qualify for the Olympics.

Not to be confused with Ice Princess, another 2005 Disney movie about figure skating.

Tropes:

  • Alliterative Name: The protagonist has the catchy name of Katelin Kingsford. The movie also has "Hollywood" Henderson, her roommate.
  • Artistic License – Sports:
    • Skating competitions at the national level will certainly have two programs — one longer and one shorter — that are held on separate days. For dramatic tension, however, the nationals competition here is presented as a single routine, and a winner is declared at the end.
    • The production aspects of Katelin's routine are fudged a bit as well. Her score has lyrics, but the International Skating Union did not allow music with lyrics for singles skaters until after the Sochi 2014 Olympics. Theatrical lighting is not used for competition routines either as the judges need to see your feet.
  • As Himself: Renowned figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi appears as herself, giving out a personal training session.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Katelin's rival Pamela attempts to sabotage her at nationals by slashing her stuff. She doesn't make the Olympic team.
  • Conflicting Loyalty: The hockey finals are on the same day as the skating nationals. Katelin eventually decides to go to the hockey finals, but is convinced to skate and barely makes it to the skating competition.
  • Force and Finesse: The conflict between hockey and figure skating, as the two skating sports are very different: hockey is a brawny team sport, figure skating is a graceful individual sport. Katelin initially has trouble balancing the two but later manages to integrate them.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Katelin's brother Bradley is mean to her because he was once a promising hockey player himself and stopped, so he got upset about her hockey scholarship. He gets better after he learns Katelin used his techniques to help her team get to the finals.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: Katelin's mother was also a figure skater when she was young, and Katelin even wears her previous costume.
  • Mistaken for Junkie: Shelby runs off after being berated after falling and messing up her routine. Katelin follows her into the bathroom and sees a syringe fall under the stall, and she begins to lecture her on drugs. Shelby tells her that she's diabetic. And then they go get sugar-free frozen yogurt.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: In a competition during the beginning of the movie, Katelin gave her scrunchie to a young girl who wanted, while she used her lucky rubber band. During her routine however, her rubber band breaks, and she falls in the middle of it. She ends up losing the competition with a younger girl she helped ends up winning.
  • No Sympathy: Katelin is chewed out as a failure by her skating coach for not showing up to practice. The coach never gave her a chance to explain that the Alpha Bitch locked her in a supply closet, despite the fact that she was covered in purple paint and had apparently been through something.
  • Secret-Keeper: Katelin's roommate Hollywood knows she is a figure skater but doesn't blow her cover.
