The fourth Ghoulies film by Jim Wynorski, released in 1994 straight to video.

Jonathan Graves, the main character of the first film, has become a police detective. His past in the occult comes back to haunt him as he has to deal with his former girlfriend, who is still very into it, and two accidentally summoned Ghoulies as well.

This film has examples of:

  • Action Girl: Kate, the captain of the police force and Jonathan's former girlfriend, is no slouch in physical combat.
  • Bond One-Liner: Jonathan gives one after shooting the store robber.
    "Cleanup on aisle four."
  • Damsel in Distress: Jeannie, Jonathan's current girlfriend, is kidnapped by Alexandra so that she can use her in a ritual to bring back Faust once and for all.
  • Dark Action Girl: Alexandra, whose crazy and evil nature drives her to attack multiple people to further her own goals.
  • Dual Wielding: Mancuso, under control by Alexandra's black magic, briefly uses two broken paddles to fight Jonathan.
  • Enemy Without: Faust is a representation of Jonathan's darker side from his occult days, who cannot exist on earthly plain while he does.
  • Evil Plan: Alexandra intends to replace Jonathan with his evil side, that resides in Hell.
  • Flashed-Badge Hijack: After Jonathan leaves her behind, Kate uses her badge to commandeer a truck whose owner moments earlier absent-mindedly threw a used condom on her.
  • Guns Akimbo: When Mancuso fails to be any help in dealing with the store robbery by fainting on the spot, Jonathan takes his gun and uses both it and his own to deal with the robber armed with a shotgun.
  • Human Sacrifice: In order to summon Faust, Alexandra has to present a body inside a pentagram drawn on the ground for a sacrifice.
  • MacGuffin: The Jewel of Knowledge, which Faust needs to continue existing.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Alexandra wears a PVC outfit that exposes her cleavage with a plunging neckline that goes down to her navel.
  • Neck Snap: Alexandra kills a sewer worker named Raplhie this way to summon Faust once again.
  • Not in Kansas Anymore: Ghoulie Dark says a variation of this to Ghoulie Light once they arrive on Earth after Alexandra's botched ritual.
    "I don't think we're in Oz anymore."
  • Numbered Sequels: The film is numbered as the fourth film in the series with a Roman numeral.
  • Over-the-Shoulder Carry: When Alexandra kidnaps Jeannie, she chloroforms the girl before hoisting her unconscious body over her shoulder and casually walking off.
  • Punch! Punch! Punch! Uh Oh...: After arriving the mental institute where Alexandra intends to do her big ritual, Jonathan has to fight a large Asian mental patient who shows no reaction to his punches, leading to this reaction from Jonathan.
  • Sequel Hook: At the end of the film, Ghoulie Dark and Ghoulie Lite take the jewel that was needed to summon Faust and tell the audience to keep a look out for Ghoulies IV: Part 2, which was never made.
  • Shout-Out: Ghoulie Dark calls the Asian janitor "that guy from Karate Kid" before he and Ghoulie Lite knock him out for his keys and other stuff.
  • The Stakeout: Jonathan and his (latest) partner Mancuso are introduced in the middle of one, which is then sidelined by the robbery that Jonathan has to stop.
  • Stock Sound Effects: The sound effect for the blasts from the Jewel of Knowledge in the climax are very familiar to those who have seen cartoons from the eighties.
  • Villain Opening Scene: The film opens with Alexandra breaking into a museum warehouse, murdering four guards with a garrote, shuriken and gun with a Hollywood Silencer on it so that she can she can steal a jewel and perform a black magic ritual to bring forth Faust.
