Ghost Note is a Horror Movie by Troy Hart.

Mallory (Alicia Underwood) is a teenage girl who's attending a family Thanksgiving dinner at her grandmother's house. Once the dinner is over, however, her parents inform her they'll be going to Hawaii for a private holiday, so she'll be spending the week with grandma (Allyn Carrell), much to her chagrin. While she's there, though, she also reconnects with an old friend of hers living in the area, Rodney (Justin Duncan), who's really gotten into blues music lately.

Speaking of, after performing a seance in the attic of her grandma's house during the Thanksgiving dinner, Mallory finds an old guitar in a case. Then she starts having strange nightmares. Before she knows it, Mallory and Rodney have found themselves being drawn into a dark page in blues history pertaining to the infamous blues musician Eugene Burns (Kenny Gardner).

The film was released on April the 21st, 2017.

Ghost Note contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Apparently, Mallory's grandfather was this to his kids. He once beat up Rick for going into his workshop, and choked Jack and threw him down the attic stairs when he caught him up there. We later find out it was because those places were where he was keeping Eugene and his guitar respectively.
  • Almighty Mom: When Lawrence is trying to get his younger kids into the car, they don't pay attention... then his wife shouts "Kids, listen to you father!", and they drop everything and get moving.
  • Asshole Victim: The redneck who Eugene Burns kills was shown to be more interested in cleaning his guns than walking his dog, and argued with his wife about who should do it.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Late in the movie, when Mallory is alone, a lamp flickers and loud tapping is heard. Mallory, thinking it might be Eugene, covers her ears and shout "Go Away!". She then sits, and tearfully aks "What do you want from me!?". The camera then shows Mallory's grandma saying "I just wanted to make sure you were okay.".
  • Big Bad: Eugene Burns.
  • Chekhov's Gun: While Mallory and Rodney are retreading old ground, they come across Mr. Torres' old well. Mallory remembers the well in the climax, and decides to drop Eugene and his guitar into it to rid the world of them.
  • Driven to Suicide: Three examples.
    • In 1971, after Eugene finishes playing a song, a man in the audience puts a gun to his own head and shoots himself.
    • After touching Astaroth (Eugene's guitar), the exterminator drives back to his business, and then hangs himself.
    • After sensing that Eugene is awake, Ashley slits her own throat.
  • Dreaded Kids' Table: Where Mallory has to sit during Thanksgiving dinner.
  • The End... Or Is It?: Eugene Burns and his guitar have been dropped into a deep well, and Rodney disposed of the Ghost Note album by throwing it into the raging river. All seems well... then we see a shot of some kids playing by the river, and the camera zooms in on the Ghost Note album in the branches of a nearby tree.
  • Flipping the Bird: Mallory does this to her mother on the car ride to her grandma's house.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: After Mallory sees that Eugene is still alive, she's so distraught by it she regresses to a child-like state. She only returns to normal when Lillith slaps her across the face.
  • Handguns: One man is shown to own a handgun. When he sees Eugene Burns, he tries to shoot him with it.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: When Mallory's cousin Kyle hugs her, she responds with "Eww, get it off me!".
  • MacGuffin Title: Ghost Note is the name of Eugene Burn's unreleased album, which causes anyone who hears it to start raping/murdering people.
  • Male Gaze: When Mallory is walking away after arranging to hang out with Rodney later, he looks in her direction, and the camera focuses on her butt.
  • Nightmare Sequence: Mallory has one where she enters a club full of masked people who start attacking eachother when Eugene Burns starts playing on his guitar.
  • No-Sell: One guy tries to kill Eugene Burns by shooting him, but Eugene just shrugs off each shot.
  • Pop-Cultural Osmosis Failure: Mallory tells her grandmother that one thing she likes to do is watch movies on Netflix, which she decides to join her on... then she asks "What's Netflix?".
  • Scary Black Man: Eugene Burns, especially with all of that metal stuck to his body.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Xander informs Rodney that Eugene Burns is still alive behind the brick wall, and makes known his intention to free him, Rodney decides then and there to walk away.
  • Shrouded in Myth: Eugene Burns' infamous album, "Ghost Note". Since it disappeared before it could be mass-produced and distributed, the only way anyone even knows about it is word of mouth. Some even doubt it ever existed.
  • Slashed Throat: Ashley kills herself this way after sensing that Eugene Burns has awakened.
  • Spooky Séance: Mallory holds one in the attic with her cousins.
  • Time Skip: The prologue of the movie happens in 1971. Then it jumps ahead to the "Present Day".
  • Tonka Tough: Xander shows Rodney the Ghost Note record, and then takes a hammer to it. He shows it to him again, showing that it isn't even scratched, stating that the record is indestructible.
