Daun Haus (Russian: Даун Хаус) is a russian comedy movie created by Roman Kachanov in May 17, 2001. This film is a very loose interpretation of Fyodor Dostoevsky novel " The Idiot ". The plot is set in modern Moscow, in the 1990s, with "New Russians", bribery, violence, truck fulls of tinned stew as a dowry, etc

Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin returns to Moscow after a long treatment in a psychiatric clinic in Switzerland. On the bus, he meets Parfyon Rogozhin, a wealthy businessman. The intrigue revolves around the planned marriage of Nastasya Filippovna and Ganya Ivolgin, General Yepanchin's secretary.

This movie provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Ganya in the novel was a jerkass. But in this film, he's a more positive character

  • Bathos : Most important humour ingredient in movie

  • Cloudcuckoolander : Main character Prince Myshkin. Justified, because he was not fully cured, and the symptoms of the disease remained

  • Gasshole: Ferdyshenko who "farts deafeningly"

  • The Gambling Addict : General Ivolgin, who loses all his money in casino due to injuries

  • Only Sane Man : General Epanchin, compare to other characters, he's the calmest and smartest in the movie, although he's New Russian

  • Surreal Humor : One of the ingredients of movie humour. For example Elizaveta Epanchina speaks in a serious monotone about how the chinese carpet glows green at night, and there Mao Zedong appears in a coffin

  • Toilet Humour: Constantly farting Ferdyshenko and story when General Epanchin was forced to wipe himself by friend's last letter to wife

  • Precision F-Strike : After the prince invited Nastasya Filippovna marry on him at his own wedding, general Epanchin calls Myshkin "fabulous dumbass"

  • Would Hit a Girl: Ganya almost hit his sister, but Prince has interfered
