"If I can't be in this movie, nobody will!"

Blood Drips Heavily On Newsies Square is an underground comedy-horror film made on the set of Disney's Newsies by a majority of the Newsies cast in the summer of 1991.

When washed-up actor Don Knotts (played by Mark David, AKA "Specs") is rejected from the set of Newsies, he decides that if he can't be in the movie, nobody will. Cue a hilarious killing spree featuring fake blood, death by laxatives, Dramatic Irony, and lots and lots of swearing as each of the cast members are offed one by one. Needless to say, it's not suited for Disney's typical audience.

The film can be seen on YouTube in three parts.

This film contains examples of:

  • As Himself: A majority of the cast plays themselves going about a typical day shooting Newsies, at least until the body count starts to rise.
  • Ash Face: After surviving being burnt at the stake and a nuclear explosion Michael's face is completely covered in ash.
  • The Cameo: Other Newsies cast members like Christian Bale and Bill Pullman make short appearances, as does Lucy Boryer, who was appearing on Doogie Howser, M.D. alongside Max.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: A majority of the film's dialogue contains copious amounts of swearing, especially from the killer.
  • Dramatic Irony: As Michael Goorjian repeats the safety instructions to stay outside buildings, use the buddy system, and watch for falling objects, the killer offs everyone behind him in the exact ways he describes.
  • Laxative Prank: Don Knotts kills Trey this way with Ex-Lax in his lemonade.
  • Made of Iron: Michael survives being run over twice, being dragged behind the car, being hanged, being shot, and being burned at the stake plus being nuked.
  • Murderer P.O.V.: Several death scenes are filmed from the killer's point of view, usually with his hands visible just beyond the camera lens.
  • Nuke 'em: Don Knotts' final plan to kill all the Newsies is a nuclear bomb attached to a clapperboard.
  • Oh, Crap!: Michael has a completely horrified reaction when his 'echo' responds differently to him and he notices the car in the background is closing in on him.
  • Ominous Latin Chanting: "O Fortuna" plays over the intro and opening narration.
  • "Psycho" Strings: The famous theme from Psycho plays when Ivan is butchered with a knife and the killer washes it off in the sink.
  • Repeat Cut: Parodied when Knotts' "Nobody will!" is not only seen from different angles but also different scenes entirely, such as when he pops out of a hay bale.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Sylvester-and-Tweety "hanging off a building" routine is referenced when Max is tricked into being pushed off the set of the World Building and is barely hanging on.
    • The character Fire Marshall Brett is a reference to Jim Carrey's Fire Marshall Bill character from In Living Color!.
    • The ending scene is a reference to Norman Bates' monologue in the ending of Psycho.
  • Sole Survivor: Michael is the only survivor of Don Knotts' rampage.
  • Toilet Humour: Trey is killed by pooping himself to death thanks to laxative-spiked lemonade.
