The Incident is a 2011 French film released in the United States in 2012 as Asylum: Blackout. The film centers around three wannabe rockstars, George, Max, and Ricky, who also hold jobs as cooks at Sans Insane Asylum in Washington. After a rock concert the night before, George comes in early to get a meat delivery, and thinks that he sees one of the inmates convincing another to spit out their pills. Shortly afterwards, a blackout knocks out the security systems and leaves the three cooks and security guards locked inside the asylum with the inmates, who have decided to riot...

Tropes in this film:

  • Bedlam House: Averted. The inmates are treated very reasonably by those working there.
  • Driven to Madness: George, by the end of the film. Or possibly before any of it even starts.
  • Fingore: Early in the movie, George slices his finger while slicing meat. Later, Harry Green bites his own finger off in front of George. This is revealed to all be in George's imagination, as Harry's fully-intact hand attached to his dead body has been shown from nearly the beginning of the riot, although we don't see who it's attached to until the end
  • Insane Equals Violent: Not all of the inmates are violent, but 90% of them seem to be.
