Antisocial is a 2013 Canadian horror film directed by Cody Calahan, starring Michelle Mylett (better known as Katy in Letterkenny), Cody Ray Thompson, Jed Erickson, Ana Alic, and Romaine Waite. A sequel, Antisocial 2, was released in 2015. Both films centre predominantly on Samantha "Sam" Reznor, a young woman who finds herself caught in the middle of a pandemic where those infected display various strange symptoms and violent behaviour.

Includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Double-Meaning Title: The title refers to both the anti-social behaviour exhibited by those affected by the Hate Plague and to the film's Social Media Is Bad angle.
  • Fictional Social Network: Jed's friend Brian uses a social media site called Social Redroom to chronicle the spread of the disease.
  • Hate Plague: A literal example - the unnamed disease causes those infected to display various symptoms, the most prominent of which is uncontrolled violence.
  • Social Media Is Bad: A Facebook lookalike called Social Redroom — complete with a Mark Zuckerberg expy — is ultimately found to be responsible for a contagion spreading across the world that makes you violent, makes you bleed black blood from your ears and nose, and ultimately makes your brain explode out the back of your head. This is because the creators of Redroom encoded subliminal messages in the site that make you want to check it and post things there more often, resulting in your brain growing a tentacled mass that gives your brain a biological wi-fi signal that connects to all other Red Room users. If all that isn't bad enough, it turns out at the end that the virus also brings its victims back from the dead as mindless shambling zombies.
