Angry White Man is a Comedy movie by Brian James O'Connell.
Skeeter Freeman (Bob Hardison) is a man with a dream of going to Nashville and making it as a country music singer. Of course, life hasn't exactly made that easy for him. All he has going for him are his upcoming wedding, and his friends Walt (Scoot McNairy) and Floyd (Steve Agee). Of course, then his bride walks out halfway down the aisle and blows her own brains out.
So he buries himself in writing country songs again, hoping to find one that sticks. In all this, his friends try to help him out of his funk. They even decide to take him to meet his idol, Bulldog Hayes (Matt Berry). These all move to set Skeeter on the road he needs to be on.
The film was released on October 22nd, 2011.
Angry White Man contains examples of:
- Broken Pedestal: Skeeter, Walt, and Floyd have theirs broken by Bulldog Heys when they realize he's a Jerkass who isn't even American (he's British).
- Disproportionate Retribution: After Skeeter gives Bulldog Hayes a well-deserved "The Reason You Suck" Speech, the latter leaves the room, and as Skeeter and his friends are driving away, shoots at them with a gun.
- Groin Attack: Floyd finds himself a victim of two. Bulldog Hayes kicks him in the crotch before the music contest starts, and then the girl with him does the same.
- Jerkass: What Bulldog Hayes ultimately turns out to be.
- Never Bareheaded: Walt is rarely, if ever, seen without his "Shut up & fish" cap on his head.
- Runaway Bride: Skeeter's fiance, Betty. She barely even starts walking down the aisle when she decides to leave the wedding, go outside, and blow her own brains out.
- Time Skip: After the funeral wake scene, the movie cuts to a black screen with "Six weeks later" on it.
- Title Drop: Two.
- While trying to write a song with Bulldog Hayes, Bulldog decides to apparently stomp on Skeeter's foot, and notes how angry he looks afterwards.
Bulldog Hayes: Ahh, we're getting somewhere. Yeah, you look angry. You look like an angry white man.- A second one happens near the end of the movie. Maxine announces she'll be singing Skeeter's song, Angry White Man.
- Toilet Humour: At one point, while singing a song about an ex, Skeeter forgets what comes after "she's a tall drink'a" due to being drunk, and just gives up and goes "A tall drink'a my piss!" before he passes out.
- Tongue Trauma: While in the washroom, Skeeter trips and falls, biting his tongue in the process, rendering him unable to sing. So Maxine decides to sing for him.
