American Soldiers is a 2005 war film. Set in Iraq in April of 2004, it follows a squad of American soldiers on a patrol, which quickly goes awry when one of the men is critically wounded in a firefight and needs immediate medical aid.

The following tropes appear in American Soldiers:

  • Artistic License – Medicine: Apparently a life-threatening abdominal wound can be treated in the middle of a shootout in less than five minutes.
  • Extremely Short Timespan: The entire movie takes place in the span of just about 12 hours.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Dowdy has shades of this, notably early on, when he initiates a firefight with an Iraqi squad, but falls down a hill and gets pinned down.
  • Lock-and-Load Montage: The Americans get a scene of loading magazines in the police station.
  • The Medic: "Doc" Cohen.
  • Moral Myopia: Pena reacts with anger to Stalker just hypothesizing about an Iraqi occupation of the United States, but doesn't seem to fully understand why the Iraqis would fight so hard against the Americans occupying Iraq.
