Albion: The Enchanted Stallion is a Portal Fantasy film by Gravitas Ventures that was released in 2017.
Evie, a young and purehearted girl of Vermont, is stifled by the need to care for her bedridden father and herself. Her only respite comes from his fairytales and her part-time job as a stable girl, which allows her to be around the horses she loves more than anything.
One day, she finds a mysterious black stallion outside the stable, and gets on its back in an attempt to guide it to shelter. Instead it runs off, into an entirely different world- the medieval, verdant land of Albion. From there she gets involved in a quest to protect the benevolent Danaan people from their oppressors.
This film includes the following tropes:
- Art Shift: Exposition is delivered by animate cave paintings, most of which are stick figures. Amusingly, they can be seen preparing for the 'show' beforehand.
- Good Parents: Evie's father does his best to support her emotionally, though circumstances mean she has to clean and cook for them both.
- Seasonal Baggage: Evie's hometown is experiencing a white Christmas and absolutely covered in snow. When she finds herself in Albion, she looks at the vibrant greenery around her and begins to realize that something's wrong.
