Air Rage is a 2001 action film starring Ice-T, Cyril O'Reilly, and Kim Oja. O'Reilly plays Colonel John Sykes, a convicted war criminal, who is broken out of prison and, along with some of his men, hijack a plane carrying the general who convicted him to exact revenge. Matt Marshall (Ice-T) leads a four-man team to try and reclaim the plane, with the help of flight attendant Kelly (Oja).

Examples

  • Big Damn Heroes: Ice-T and his crew attempt to board the plane to take it back from the hijackers. It doesn't go well for them.
  • Clear My Name: Sykes plans to do this by...hijacking a plane and selling classified information to the highest bidder. It Makes Just As Much Sense In Context.
  • Colonel Badass: Colonel Sykes is a villainous example.
  • Cool Plane: Most of the movie takes place on Boeing's iconic 747. The SR-71 Blackbird also qualifies.
  • Follow the Leader: Very obviously a poor man's Air Force One.
  • Guns Do Not Work That Way: Sykes claims that he and his men are using hollow-point ammunition to avoid puncturing the airplane and causing depressurization. Most airplane skin is 1-2mm thick, and even a hollow-point from a 9mm semi-automatic pistol will have no problem puncturing through two millimeters of aluminum.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: A movie about a hijacked passenger plane which came out just months before 9/11.
  • Improvised Weapon User: Kelly bludgeons one of the hijackers to death with a metal coffee pot.
  • Stock Footage: Much of the exterior shots of the airplane are made up of this.
  • Western Terrorists: Every character in the film; good and bad, is American.
