A Wakefield Project is a Horror Movie by L.A. Lopes.

Eric (Anthony Bewlz) and Reese (Dennis Andres) are two city folk who moved to the town of Wakefield after buying an old inn there that they intent to convert into a bed and breakfast. The two are visited by a medium named Chloe (Lindsay Seim), who says she can read the energy of people and things. In their time in town, the two men discover that Wakefield has a dark stain on its history.

Apparently, the inn used to belong to a man named Nathan Cross (Rob Archer) and his father. In 2004, Nathan went on a rampage in town that ended in the deaths of six women, while a seventh managed to escape. The inn has been haunted by this legacy ever since.

Unfortunately, a solar flare occurred at about 4:36 AM the previous night. As a result, everyone's phones and cars and whatever else are going on and off... and it also seems that ghosts are now showing up around town... including Nathan Cross, which can't bode well.

The film was released on January 11th, 2019.

A Wakefield Project contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parent: Nathan's dad was shown to be very verbally abusive, deriding his son as not being a real man while Nathan's chopping firewood. He also had an affair with Chloe, his son's girlfriend.
  • Cruel Twist Ending: Eric and Chloe have survived their encounter with Nathan Cross' ghost, and are married and expecting a child. When they decide to have some fun though, Eric starts hurting Chloe, and we find out he's being possessed by Nathan's ghost.
  • Disappeared Dad: Eric's father has apparently died recently.
  • Ghostly Goals: Chloe tells Eric that, now that he's in the mortal realm, Nathan is going to want to kill his seventh intended victim, aka, her.
  • Missing Mom: Nathan's dad tells him in the home video that his mother apparently left him, and foisted Nathan on his father.
  • P.O.V. Cam: In the first minutes of the movie, we see the P.O.V. of a father who's called to his son's room to check under his bed. He finds his son under the bed, even though he saw him IN the bed earlier. He looks back up top, and finds the bed empty.
  • The Reveal: Chloe was Nathan's intended seventh victim. She also drove him to become a killer by cheating on him with his dad.
  • Ring-Ring-CRUNCH!: Eric's alarm clock keeps going off after he shuts it off. The first time, he just shuts it off. The second time, he unplugs it. When it STILL keeps going off, he picks it up and throws it against the wall, which does the trick.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: On his way to Miguel's, Reese sees a homeless woman curled up into this position, muttering to herself in a foreign language.
  • Undeathly Pallor: Ghost Nathan Cross is a LOT paler than living Nathan Cross. Same for all of the other ghosts around town.
  • Your Mom: When Reese finds some videotapes in the inn basement, he assumes they're pornography and asks Eric if he wants to see them. Eric says he's not interested in seeing Reese's Mom.
