• Synopsis: It's starts out innocently enough, just a chat about superheroes. But when Sonic forgets a word, it sparks an entirely new discussion, one that Sonic is kind of embarrassed to open up about.
• Comments: You probably weren't expecting any good fics to come out of this movie, but this cute little oneshot is a very good exception. Sonic is astoundingly in-character without being annoying, and the fic itself is hilarious. Plus, it writes bilingualism realistically, something that surprisingly few writers can seem to do. Probably worth a few moments of your time, at least.

5 Times Sonic Caught Himself Before Calling Them 'Mom and Dad' and 1 Time He Didn't Hold Back by Invader_Sam

• Synopsis: Sonic, Tom and Maddie adjust to life under one roof, with all the angst and shenanigans you'd expect.
• Comments: This fic is a very sweet example of Tom and Maddie becoming Sonic's adoptive parents, though he still has to handle having a family as opposed to being alone. Overall, this fic is a happy, and often humorous, one.
  • Now part of a series, Family Loading... Please Wait, which continues with the story following the events of the second film. Making Space (status: complete) has Sonic dealing with the ups and downs of suddenly becoming a middle sibling, while Tails and Knuckles settle into their new family. Part of the Tribe (status: complete) shifts the focus a bit to Knuckles (though it's still overall about the entire Wachowski family) as his brief collaboration with Robotnik leads to problems with the government in getting his adoption finalized.

• Synopsis: He was in a strange world that was full of creatures he’d never seen before, with only a bag of loose Power Rings that his beloved caretaker had entrusted to him. Longclaw had stayed behind to let him escape the ones who wanted to hurt him— he was too slow to run back and save her. She wouldn’t have needed saving in the first place if he’d just listened to her. But he hadn’t, and now he was alone and Longclaw was gone. Because of him.

• Comments: The first of an ongoing series about the life and times of Wade Whipple after Silver, and later Shadow, enter his life. A good mix of action, drama, comedy, and feels. Starts before the events of the second movie.
