Proof that the remaining 10% is worth opening the Ark of the Covenant for.

These are recommendations made by Tropers for Indiana Jones fanfics, all of which have been signed. After a few samples, you will be able to judge whether you might be interested in the 'fic, based on who recommended it. No-name recommendations will be Zapped. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

    General Fics

Indiana Jones and the Sons of Darkness by Robert Marshall Smith

  • Recommended by: Naram-Sin
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: In 1948, Indy is thrown into a race against an ancient Satanist group looking for the remains of Noah's Ark, in order to save the life of a son that he had with Marion and has just learned about.
  • Comments: Released to the early internet in 1996 under false credits to George Lucas and Jeffrey Boam, this script became infamous when Lucas' company tried successively (and unsuccessfully) to erase it from the internet, sue Smith for copyright infringement, and then buy the script from him, before they finally made a gentlemen's agreement under which Smith would be allowed to pass his script as he pleased as long as it was credited to himself and all references to Lucas and characters of the Indiana Jones franchise were taken out (but as you can see above, it is not difficult to find non-neutered versions online). Early polemics aside, the script is probably the most professional of any Indy fan sequels ever written, a fine read on its own, and would have made a worthy sequel to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade had it been real. Following the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, it has gained the additional appeal of noting how many elements it has in common with this movie despite predating it for a whole decade (Marion's return, Indy learning he had a son after the death of his father, Soviet enemies, the search for an ancient skull and a nuclear explosion). This could in turn spawn a long discussion about which script made a better job at including such elements in the story.

The Night Watch by ThinkingLady-Marethiel

  • Recommended by: elvesinspace
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Set immediately after TLC; Just a little gentle ficlet about a father's love.
  • Comments: Amazing fic exploring Indy and his dad's relationship, told from Henry Sr's POV. Very sweet and probably one of my personal favorite Indy fics out there.

Raising Cain by Amilyn

  • Recommended by: elvesinspace
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Running a Himalayan dive bar in the middle of a blizzard with no liquor would be easier than raising another Henry Jones.
  • Pairing(s): Indy/Marion (Indy doesn't really appear but it's a central part of the fic)
  • Comments: Every so often, I revisit this fic, and I enjoy reading it every time. The way Marion is written in this is spot on. I also love the mother/son dynamic between her and Mutt here, as it feels like a perfect extension of the film.

Kings and Queens by thefrostedrose

  • Recommended by: Silver Wizard
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Elsa and the Grail Knight have a talk at the bottom of the abyss, and he learns some interesting things about the charming femme fatale. One-shot.

Girl Sailor By slagsmacker

  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: 50 sentences community “The life and times of Marion Ravenwood“
  • Pairing: Indiana Jones/Marion Ravenwood
  • Characters: Indiana Jones, Marion Ravenwood, Abner Ravenwood
  • Comments: Marion deserves all the fic, and and the format of 1/50 sentences format is something that i always like for side characters because it opens a lot of doors/peeks into different times/situations.
