These are recommendations made by Tropers for Hunter × Hunter, all of which have been signed. After a few samples, you will be able to judge whether you might be interested in the 'fic, based on who recommended it. No-name recommendations will be zapped. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page.

- The content is split mostly between heartbreaking tragedy and really hot porn. There is no in-between. The collection of vignettes that take place in the Harry Potter Universe is especially worth a look. Olive mostly focuses on the relationship between Gon and Killua, but the Kurapika/Leorio pairing has made a few appearances recently as well.

- Synopsis: The ripples caused by a tiny pebble can spread across an entire lake. Now imagine if you replaced that pebble with a boulder...in which Gon travels back in time and Changes Things. Aka the obligatory time travel fic, because every fandom deserves one.
- Comments: Time travel fic with Gon being Gon, which is predictably hilarious. And after all the angst that fic writers churn out from CA and their separation in the anime, it's just nice for someone to write a future in which Gon and Killua are still best friends going on adventures together without the usual circles spun around achieving forgiveness and reconciliation.

When the siblings return to the Republic of Padokia to celebrate an old holiday, Killua finds himself reflecting on his old relationship with Gon and what he wants out of life now.
- Comments: One of the most perfect character-study pieces about Killua, hands down. The mythology behind the titular "Epistle" holiday is fascinating on its own as well.

- Comments: For those who were unhappy with the events of chapter 338 of the manga, this story is the perfect feel-good fic. Spoilers for the last few chapters of the manga, of course.

- Synopsis:The Hunter's Association is the last of the free mercenary wizard companies, struggling to keep its name afloat in peaceful times. Killua is a freelance assassin who has just been hired to kill their captain. Fantasy/Magic AU.
- Comments: The story takes place in an AU where nen is replaced by magic, and all the characters use aliases to hide their true names. It's only a few chapters in but it looks promising.
A Day In The Life, or, The Many Assassinations of Pariston Hill by readerofasaph

- Synopsis: Everyone's out to kill Pariston and it's everyone's problem except his. (Alternate summary: Pariston and Ging being domestic with the kids.)
- Comments: This is probably the best characterization of Ging and Pariston I have ever seen in my life, and I can't believe it's in a slice-of-life story where they live with Gon and Killua (some of the time, at least). It's ridiculous and I can't recommend it enough.

- Synopsis: A Hunter looking for his missing friend, a city-wide crime operation, and an open contract on a mysterious person, all come to a head on the island province by the name of Cowtip and draws in Nen users from around the world for various reasons.
- Comments: This story is made up of completely original characters, submitted by Redditors on Reddit, all taking place in the Hunter x Hunter universe. The characters that were submitted are lovable, and it's immensely well-written and avoids tampering with the canon in any way. In other words, it's pretty immersive. It was an interactive experiment that led to a very well-thought out and deep Hunter x Hunter fic, one of its goals is to also give fans something to enjoy during the infamous manga hiatuses.

The story follows characters both from the previous story and new in the provinces of Anhydrought and Maremortuus, as the happenings draw numerous Hunters and Nen Users toward their goals.
- Comments: As mentioned, this is the sequel to the first OC Story, so another story comprised of original characters. If you find that you enjoyed the first one, then this one is also definitely your cup of tea. There is also an ongoing third sequel that you can check out on Reddit, which will be shared here soon too.

- Comments: An excellent story with a well-written OC in Asterra, a plot that explores the Hunter x Hunter world and the characters that inhabit it.
Resurrection x and x Reconciliation by Ihc

- Synopsis: Neferpitou survives the fight with Gon due to an underlying condition of their Nen abilities, leading to another, but different, confrontation with Gon.
- Comments: An AU/canon divergence fanfic that's probably one of the better, if not best, fanfics I've read so far where Pitou survives in a way that actually could've worked canonically while covering all bases to make it happen. In addition, this fanfic does an excellent job with keeping everyone in character.
Domestic Divergence by Chyme

- Comments: Quiet what-if fic about what might have happened if the Rose Bomb wasn't as lethal as it was in canon. Great exploration of how Komugi perceives her world.

- Synopsis: A series of short stories about Leorio and Kurapika living together supposedly after the series. Hilarity ensues.
- Comments: Kurapika's sarcasm is well written, and both Leorio and Kurapika act in character, and their bickering can be quite amusing to read, especially when it's over the color of their office.

- Synopsis: Please understand; she was just an ignorant coward who was too scared of living to die properly. He was just a psychopath who became interested in her ability to see what he had hidden for so long. After all, his hands are swathed in murderous black strings, while hers are starkly bare - so tell me, what kind of bloodied threads will connect them together? Hisoka X OC. Pre-Canon.
- Comments: This piece turned out to be so interesting and engaging, and it's now complete! The author captures the spirit of the city around the Heaven's Arena and the darkness behind Hisoka's character so well. I got chills when I read this! If you've ever wanted Hisoka to be pulled into a realistic romance, then this is a must read.

- Synopsis: Kurapika had a question. Should he feel unfortunate, for losing the only Scarlet Eyes that he thought he had retrieved, and knowing that Kuroro Lucifer; his nemesis, had finally broken free from his Chain of Judgement? Or should he feel fortunate that he actually bumped into him in his task to retrieve some ancient relic? One thing for sure: the appearance of a genie definitely spelled D-O-O-M.
- Comments: Plays well on the differences between Kuroro and Kurapika, and gradually develops Kurapika's character into finally forgiving the vendetta against the Spiders and finally accepting that revenge isn't the best way to go.

- Synopsis: lllumi accepts a job from Hisoka against his better judgment. When "a date" proves to really be, "just a date", both his patience and his deductive skills are tested.
- Comments: This fic has the absolute best characterization of Illumi and Hisoka in a pairing fic that I have ever seen. No contest.

- Comments: This fic probably has the best characterization I’ve ever read of Gon yet. A lot of times people write Gon like this innocent little thing that needs gentle, loving care, when in fact, Gon is difficult as hell to deal with and his curiosity and lack of shame knows no bounds.

- Synopsis: Five years without any contact was a long time. The distance had built new walls on top of old wounds. They were still best friends, maybe, but did they really know each other anymore? In an ideal situation, they'd spend some time alone, maybe go on a few small adventures. Take it slow. Rediscover what drew them to each other in the first place. But Killua had officially decided that the situation was not ideal. In fact, it was so much the opposite that he was going to have an enormous hickey on the inside of his elbow. Because instead of taking things slow, they were pretending to make out in a closet.
- Comments: This story is an amazing example of the "fake relationship" fanfic troupe, and it utilizes it's premise to the fullest. The author shows a great understanding of both Gon's and Killua's characters, portraying both the fundamental aspects of their personalities along with little nuanced details that truly enhance the reading experience. Plus, the story includes some great Original Characters that fit right into the universe and move the story along perfectly.

- Synopsis: Tokyo Ghoul AU featuring the Hx H cast. There were people who didn't belong in the world of ghouls. People who should have been kept as far away from that horrific universe as possible. They weren't.
- Comments: Wow. The level of thought and detail put into this fic is absolutely amazing. The characterization is great, the plot is enticingly suspenseful, and the twists are fantastic. However, the story also contains a large amount of fairly disturbing content, so mind the warnings on this one. If you can handle it, this fic is a definite must for Hunter x Hunter fans.

However, when an ancient conspiracy makes its reemergence, the heroes and villains put aside their differences to stop them, while the young man must reunite his Guilty World.
- Crossover with: Guilty Crown, Guilty Crown: The Lost Kingdoms, YuYuGiDigiMoon, Digimon Fusion Kai, Kanius Production Abridged, various anime and fictional works in popular culture
- Comments: This is a mega crossover taking place after Guilty Crown. At times it’s hard to follow with so many characters, but the plot and concepts are interesting enough for readers to keep going, and focuses on Shu’s main perspective in getting involved to confront his past demons. The Hunter x Hunter gang appear and obviously meet the YuYu Hakusho characters.

- Synopsis: Humans and their daemons were never meant to be kept apart, that’s what his heart tells him. But they are Zoldycks and Zoldycks live by ideals that reject the heart entirely. Hunter x Hunter with daemons, focusing on Killua Zoldyck and growing up in the Zoldyck household.
- Comments: This honestly might be one of my favorite depictions of Killua's homelife in the Zoldyck household. The horrific nature of his upbringing is so well portrayed, I have no words.
