Breaking Point

- Synopsis: A dramatic story that puts the cast of Happy Tree Friends in a Zombie Apocalypse scenario. Orange rain from a suspect storm cloud spreads a zombie-like infection among the population, and the cast of HTF are forced into a cross-country journey to escape the chaos. But, naturally, things go very, very wrong.
- Comments: This story is incomplete and likely dead, having not been updated since January 2011, but the fifteen chapters that are there contain some of the most heartwrenching and engaging writing that you may ever see in an HTF fan work. It's dark, unsettling, depressing, gory, and amazing. The author plays with the characters and twists them, but still manages to keep them somewhat true to the show while making them much darker and more mature. A shame that it has not been updated in nearly five years at the time of writing.

- Comments: Although a bit mediocre in the beginning, this story only improves as time goes on. It is all in all a rather light-hearted adventure story, although it definitely has its dark moments, especially as the story moves on and the stakes get higher. References to episodes of the original show are not unusual, and while this may be intimidating to someone who has only just gotten into the show, it also serves to prove that the author has really done their research.
A Happy Tree Poem by The-Blue-Fanatic

- Synopsis: A poem that explains how day to day life goes amongst the Happy Tree Friends.
- Comments: It's more focused on the setting than anything else. Characters are mostly mentioned in passing so there aren't any pairings.

- Synopsis: One night, Nutty discovers strangely colored clouds that give him wings. Wanting a break from his current life, he decides to follow the clouds on an adventure with Nunu, a kangaroo.
- Comments: It's easy to tell this was written by a beginner, but all the ideas are there. They're just not very strong yet. Focusing on Nutty of all characters is a pretty neat idea, especially giving him wings and taking him to new places. It's a shame because this fanfiction seems to have been abandoned. It's also quite meta-the beginning focuses on the HTF movie and how the Tree Friends rehearse for it. It also sounds like it was going to be scenery-based. I don't understand the concept of putting it on a Wikia instead of Fanfiction.net, though. A secret wikia nonetheless.
Awful older sibling by Time to show off bad fanfics

- Comments: A fanfic focusing on Lifty, Shifty, and Splendid, with occasional appearances by other characters. After Splendid accidentally wrecks the apartment building Lifty and Shifty live in, they blackmail him into letting them stay at his home until it's repaired. The main focus of the story is the relationship between Lifty and Shifty and the criminal hijinks the two get up to. While the grammar and spelling could use polishing, the characters are enjoyably written, with the contrast between the twins' jerkish, snarky personalities (although with the occasional small bit of affection toward each other) and Splendid's sunny, well-meaning one making for a fun contrast. Sadly seems to be a Dead Fic, being last updated July 2015.
Happy Tree Friends Origins by Tandy_16

- Synopsis: This fanfiction tells a story for (possibly) every character except for Flippy, who already had his own bit of backstory explained in Operation: Tiger Bomb.
- Comments: It's a great little fanfiction if you can't seem to find a good fanon answers for the mysteries of HTF, such as the loss of Handy's arms. It's currently being worked on, even though the last chapter as of this comment (Flaky) was released on August 11th. The creator of the fanfic is currently working on Cuddles' chapter. It's a great fanfiction that, to me, captures the spirit of Happy Tree Friends as a series. ~RabbitTopeBall

- Comments: This could possibly be the closest we'll get to a full-on HTF movie. It is a thriller from start to finish watching The Stranger adapt to his new "world" and fight back against it to put an end to the Mad Man's sadistic power trip. The canon characters behave exactly like you'd expect, and there are some nice Call Backs and Mythology Gags for the fans. Words alone can't do it justice, this fic is a must-read for everyone. Fan-comic based on the Happy Tree Friends series, join this particular adventure where magic and war coexist in the same world.
- Comments: Despite the warmer cuddlier aesthetics, it's no less bloody, and there are still shenanigans to be had. Also features characters form Ka-Pow like Tiger General and Buddhist Monkey. There's also an addition of fantasy elements
