Proof that the remaining 10% is worth staying five nights at Freddy's for here:

These are recommendations made by Tropers for Five Nights at Freddy's Fan Fics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Remember to use the template found here. After a few samples, you will be able to judge whether you might be interested in the 'fic, based on who recommended it. No-name recommendations will be attacked by Freddy. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into Not Safe for Work, romantic, or non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

You can also add to the current recommendations if you want. You can do it by leaving a review or by adding your name to the recs line. Refrain from posting Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

Eye of Semicolon
  • Drawn in as creepy art style as possible, Eye of Semicolon's comic follows the events of the first game's story and is just like the game. Enjoyable and relatively creepy.

Koili The Artist

  • Best known for her fanfiction series Brothers Of Circuits as well as her ask blog based off of it. Koili has an amazing AU with adorable art and brilliant stories that will make you laugh, cry and fill you with suspense. By all means, worth checking out.

toy-bonnie

  • One of the few British forerunners in the FNAF community. Her art is defined by bright colours and a lot of circles. Her art is often mistaken for orlandofox's. Has quite a love of the Bonnie characters (if that wasn't obvious enough).

Turntail

  • Recommended by GBAuraRebirth
  • Comments: A digital artist who utilizes in a photorealistic painting style. The art in them is incredibly detailed and easy on the eyes. She occasionally dips into the gory aspects, but she's still a work safe artist. She's also a part of the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, working on POPGOES Evergreen. You know that her work is worth seeing when Scott himself had her do art for the official merchandise.

Kosperry

  • Recommended by CJ Croen 1393
  • Comments: Kosperry is unique in her approach as she often reimagines the FNAF series and characters as being in a Don Bluth movie. The resulting imagery has left many commenters wishing that Don Bluth would make a REAL Five Nights at Freddy's movie series. Due to the nature of her portrayals, the main four animatronics undergo a bit of Adaptational Heroism, but this doesn't mean that the story's darker qualities are downplayed, because they definitely aren't—indeed, Springtrap and Purple Man are both depicted as clear examples of Vile Villain, Saccharine Show.

  • Recommended by Luigifan, Cannox, tlc2014, Flygonmaster
  • Synopsis: Song One: Springtrap discusses the events leading up to its release into Fazbear's Fright, then makes increasingly epic death threats against the Fazbear's Fright guard. Song Two: The Purple Man talks about how he died, became Springtrap, summoned the Phantoms, and is now going to continue his killing spree, starting with the night guard. Song Three: A song from the various Phone Guys saying that you can survive, but only if you listen to what they say. Song Four: Fredbear and the Nightmares sing about the Child's nightmarish predicament, as the Child initially attempts to brave his way through the madness, before breaking down and desperately crying out for help. Song Five: A badass metal song where The Puppet declares that the children have nothing left to lose and are now going all-out to kill the Murderer, and that, at last, the night's almost over. Song 6: Baby or possibly Ennard sings about how she's going to dominate and destroy the technician, and there's nothing he can do about it. Song 7: The Glamrock animatronics sing about Vanny turning their PizzaPlex into a slaughterhouse, with them as the butchers (with the exception of Freddy, who wants to set things right).

The Puppet and Haunted by GatoPaint

Stay Calm, They'll Find You, Creepin' Towards The Door and Bonnie's Mixtape by Griffinilla

  • Recommended by acrimoniousThaumaturge, Skeletal Pumpkin
  • Synopsis: In the first song, Mike Schmidt slowly goes crazy defending against the animatronics, all while ironically repeating to himself to "stay calm", with the Fazbear Four themselves cutting in during the bridge. The second is a very simple, almost introductory song to the animatronics and their nature at night. The third song is about the night guard's increasing paranoia and anxiety as the animatronics close in on him. The fourth song is mostly made up of Bonnie singing about himself after-hours, interspersed with an announcer and someone — presumably Mike Schmidt — calling Fazbear Entertainment to report that Bonnie's flailing his guitar around as if he's trying to be Eddie Van Halen.

The End, Foxy's Tale, Synthetic Agony and Open Up by Muse Of Discord

  • Recommended by Springertrap
  • Synopsis: Song One: Set after FNAF 3, where the children are finally at peace and their story has come to an end. Song Two: Foxy sings about himself, how he is really a pirate, despite everyone saying otherwise, and tries to prove it with the Bite of '87. Song Three: Set during FNAF 2, Bonnie sings about how he and his fellow animatronics have been forgotten in favor of the new Toys, and how his life is now bringing and feeling pain. Song Four: Freddy Fazbear sings about how he is the only one who remembers being human and Mike Schmidt sings about being the murderer.
  • Comments: The first song is haunting while still somehow being gentle, with Freddy, Bonnie, and even Foxy singing. It really reminds the listener that "Oh yeah, these children still murdered countless nightgaurds, but at least now it's over". Song two is rather haunting as well, but in a much more scraping and terrifying way.

No Strings, Springtrap Finale, Haunting My Dreams, Plushtrap, Mr. Fazbear, A Bitter End, and Don't Hold It Against Us by Groundbreaking

  • Recommended by Cannox, tlc2014
  • Synopsis: 1: A song told from the perspective the Puppet, taunting you by saying that, since it has no strings, the only thing keeping it away from you is that little music box of yours... which is slowly winding down. 2: The Murderer, having been sealed inside Springtrap, admits that he deserved what happened to him and states that the "nightguard" of Fazbear's Fright is his last hope for escaping his horrific fate. 3: An unnamed man haunted by the Nightmaresnote  states that he's getting tired of the Nightmares' hunt, that he's not even safe in his dreams anymore, and that he fears he's losing his mind; at this point, he just wants it to all finally end. 4: Plushtrap mocks the players for ignoring him, the last piece to the puzzle, and for having thought they had figured everything out, when they weren't even close... and, ultimately, might not want to know the truth. 5: Freddy tells the players who he is, and laments that he no longer even remembers why he's out for the guards' blood. 6: An unspecified character - implied to be the Puppet, but also hinted to be the players themselves (or maybe even the Murderer) - begs someone to tell him what's happening as his world collapses around him and the games come to an end. 7: William Afton sings about what he's done, how he created the Circus Baby animatronics and intends for them to help him get rid of Freddy and Friends, and says that, in the end, he has no regrets.
  • Comments: Aside from the lovely beats and instrumentals, No Strings paints a nice figure of The Puppet, saying that while he's coming to get you for justice and revenge, he also takes great pride in how good he's doing it, and that he claims he's not evil, but just misunderstood.
    • Polarizing, of course. That said, these five are the best FNaF songs Groundbreaking has made, though they've made others. Highlights include Springtrap Finale's chilling Continuity Nod in the form of one of the lines being sung to the tune of the Toreador March and pretty much the entirety of A Bitter End which screams "this is it, it all ends here." Don't Hold It Against Us paints a perfect picture of just how utterly screwed up William Afton really is, though it has some inaccuracies, as it was created before Sister Location was released.note

Five Nights at Freddy's: The Musical

  • Recommended by Trogdor7620
  • Synopsis: The night guard, initially dismissive of the claims that the animatronics come alive at night, soon learns how wrong he is. But first impressions aren't always accurate, and that something even more evil lies buried within the Fazbear establishment.
  • Comments: Markiplier* stars in this Random Encounters musical, and his singing and acting are incredible. Youtube musician NateWantsToBattle comes along in Night 3, and the plot begins to grow into something far more sinister that I could have expected. The songs are catchy, the plot is gripping, and it shows the best of what FNaF has to offer.
  • Also has a spin-off prequel, starring Circus Baby, called Blood and Tears.

David Near and Bridgette Near

  • Recommended by: mortimermcmire
  • The Near siblings, in addition to having covered creepypastas like Jeff the Killer and the Slender Man mythos, have recorded EXCELLENT voiceovers for the animatronics from the series. Their videos have been incredibly prolific and gained plenty of recognition from fans of the series, so much so that a petition has been circulated to get them (and other prolific Youtubers) in voice-acting roles for the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's movie. Some of David's voiceovers have also been featured in SFM videos made by other fans of the series. But be forewarned: Both David and Bridgette have mastered the art of epically creepy voiceacting. (As of 2023, David Near has a page!)

Nikson

  • Recommended by: Im Spidey Tropes
  • Nikson is quite possibly one of the best SFM animators of all time - with smooth and very well-done animations, whether it be hilarious or terrifying. He is also the creator of the now abandoned Bonzi Bonnie series. With such well-made SFM videos, and even a fangame of his own in the works, Nikson is extremely talented when it comes to the FNAF community.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Cold Storage, Five Nights at Freddy's 3: Aftermath and Five Nights at Freddy's 4: Don't Cry by Iron Horse Cinema

  • Recommended by: tlc2014
  • Synopsis: Cold Storage: After the events of Five Nights at Freddy's 2, the animatronics are placed in cold storage; a young man named Jay is assigned to the night shift to make sure no one steals anything, and... the inevitable ensues. Aftermathnote : Michelle Schmidt's news report of Fazbear's Fright burning down is paid a visit by the most unlikely person. Meanwhile, the Purple Man decides to do something... special... for his birthday. Don't Cry: The Child wakes up in his bedroom at exactly twelve in the morning after a series of blurry, vaguely nightmarish events. It soon becomes clear that he's not alone. Meanwhile, out in the real world, the Child's brother — offscreen, of course — and the two's loving father have come to say their goodbyes.
  • Comments: Cold Storage is creepy, sure, but Aftermath is absolutely chilling. The horror only really kicks in in the second video, though without the first video, some of the scenes don't make sense. The scariest part is exactly how much the Purple Man acts like a real serial killer.
"I'LL SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHAT PIZZA CAN TASTE LIKE!!"
    • Meanwhile, in Don't Cry, we see exactly how bad the Child has it; the Nightmares are just as terrifying, if not moreso, than their original counterparts, and the ending makes about as much sense as the actual game's, which simultaneously takes the horror a step further and makes it a bit of a Tear Jerker. Who's holding the Child's hand, exactly?

Five Nights at Freddy's by Tony Crynight

  • Recommended by: oathkeeper85, aziuka
  • Synopsis: A fan-made cheesy love story taking place in Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Foxy falls in love with Mangle, but his ex-girlfriend Chica is not okay with that.
  • Comments: The first couple of episodes (1 - 7) is done with random mood-fitting music and a couple of sound effects for emotions, but from Episode 8 and on, they do start having a voice cast that fit very well with each of the characters, starting off with Springtrap and Mangle. The animation is very well done and gets better as the series goes on. It is only up to 11 episodes as of March 2016.
    • Seconded. Calling it a psychologically deep masterpiece would be a stretch, but if you're looking for some entertaining melodrama featuring excellent voice acting, this is your series.

Fazbear Toddler Fun by Agentpman1

  • Recommended by: Unnerving_Posterior
  • Synopsis: "This is one of the many strange videos I found on this computer I bought. The person who recorded this seems to be playing a rumored copy of Fazbear Toddler Fun, an unfinished CD-ROM game for young kids from 1997 that was never publicly released due to concerns and rumors about the Fazbear Entertainment company. The video files date back to 2005, 12 years after Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza closed."
  • Comments: Just a reminder that Fazbear Toddler Fun is STILL one of the coolest pieces of Fnaf related found footage horror out there!! The videos never fail to surprise me and the overall vibe and visuals in the videos are just so perfect and fitting. If you like stuff like petscop i HIGHLY reccomend checking it out! (While you're at It remember to subscribe to Agentpman1, the dude has made so many good videos and he genuinely deserves much more attention bc GOD are these videos amazing)
Gregory Repairs the Glamrocks by TwoDev-Sensei
  • Recommended by: Roy-G-Biv
  • Synopsis: Gregory returns to the Pizzaplex and repairs Glamrock Freddy's friends.
  • Comments: Each video is only a little over a minute long, but they each manage to be both heartwarming and tear-jerking (in both sad and happy ways) at the same time. Each video is animated well, and creates believable dialogue/interactions using only in-game audio, with the appropriate music to boot. If you can't wait for a "Save the Glamrocks" DLC (assuming one is made), then these videos should do the trick. Also be sure not to miss the adorably heartwarming pictures at the end of each video.

Security Mal ware Breached (COMIC DUB) by Cougar macdowall Va

  • Recommended by: Roy-G-Biv
  • Synopsis: A series of animated comic dubsnote  wherein, rather than decommissioning them, Gregory not only frees the Glamrocks from Vanny's control, but also teams up with them.
  • Comments: A nice alternative to Security Breach's story. Some people might be a bit turned off by how some of the characters are drawn (especially Roxy), but overall a nice watch.

Pyro's Night at Freddy's by Recursive Sweatpants
  • Recommended by: Stealth
  • Crossover: Team Fortress 2
  • Synopsis: When obligated to get a job by his demanding roommate Soldier, Pyro takes a minimum wage night shift job at a decrepit children's pizzeria. After he grows bored and leaves the safety of the security station, the four homicidal animatronics try their best to stuff him into a suit, only to discover that he isn't locked in the pizzeria with them, they are locked in there with him.
  • Comments: This is actually a short machinima made using a combination of Source Film Maker and Garry's Mod models. In spite of this, the cast and setting is from the first Five Nights At Freddy's. Has a lot of character, charm, and personality, which is pretty impressive considering that none of the five characters starring in this short can speak. Amusingly, it makes the otherwise creepy animatronics into collective Butt Monkeys just by Pyro being Pyro.

5 AM at Freddy's: The Prequel by PieMations

  • Recommended by: Stealth, BarthVader, Le Pouvantail
  • Synopsis: During one of Jeremy's nights at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, he encounters the animatronics as usual, and has to rely on the few tools at his disposal to keep them at bay. Similarly, the animatronics aim to do their best to stick him into a costume. Unfortunately, not everything goes quite according to plan...for any of them.
  • Comments: A much more involved sequel to a much shorter one-joke animation by the same creator, 5 AM at Freddy's, this video makes Foxy into the Only Sane Man based on the fact that he's the only one of the wandering animatronics who can see past the Freddy mask. This also forces him to be the Straight Man to the other animatronics. Half of the humor is Foxy's increasing pirate-accented frustration with...everyone, really. Wait until the end for The Stinger.
    • Seconded. It's definitely one of Pie's best so far, and I'm saying this as a person who never played nor cared about FNAF.
    • Thirded. A lot of the humor also has a healthy layer of Fridge Brilliance in how it completely lampoons the second game: Toy Bonnie getting up close and personal, Freddy not caring that you're using his own face to keep him out, Balloon Boy's obsession with your things, and of course, Foxy being the Only Sane Man due to being able to see beyond the mask.

Fazbear & Friends by Max Gilardi (though you probably know him as HotDiggetyDemon)

  • Recommended by: Moonflower2, Le Pouvantail
  • Warnings: Brief Foxy/Chica
  • Synopsis: On a dark and stormy night, Freddy Fazbear and the members of the Pizza Time Variety Band set out to prove that anybody can be made into a friend.
  • Comments: A unique and well-done Perspective Flip of Five Nights At Freddy's from the animatronics' point of view. Given Gilardi's previous work, there's a surprising amount of sincerity and heart in this (and a distinctive lack of Gilardi's usual vulgar, tongue-in-cheek style of humor.) The characterizations for each of the animatronics are unique and enjoyable, the humor is genuinely funny, and it manages to make both the robots and the night guard completely sympathetic and relatable. What really pulls this into one of my personal favorites though is the ending, which I won't give away, but I'll just say that it manages to end it on a perfectly heartfelt, yet ominous note. All in all, one of the best FNAF fanworks I've ever seen.

[SFM/FNAF] The Mind Electric: Collab by Enforma et al (EPILEPSY WARNING, CONTAINS FLASHING LIGHTS)

  • Recommended by: CJ Croen 1393
  • Synopsis: A collaborative effort music video done in Source Filmmaker about Springtrap, set to the song The Mind Electric from Miracle Musical. Contains Deranged Animation.
  • Comments: The most popular theory as to what's supposed to be happening in this video is that it's showing Afton going to Hell.

NIGHT FIVE | Five Nights at Freddy's Movie (2022) by Ex Blue, known for "in real life" challenges involving the Five Nights at Freddy's games.

  • Recommended by: Carl Filip 19
  • Content Warning: Flashing lights, many loud noises, and two Jump Scares. Such warnings are mentioned at the beginning of the film.
  • Synopsis: Michael Schmidt Afton, going by his middle name because the staff at the Freddy Fazbear's Pizza chain wants nothing to do with the Afton family, decides to get a job there because he has loved the pizzeria since many years ago, watching it with his brother Evan, one of the victims of the chain's controversies. Later, he finds out that Jonathan, the previous night guard, is missing, so he tries to know the truth behind everything. What happened to the animatronics? Why did the co-founder William Afton leave?
  • Comments: It's a case of No Budget, yet it manages to deliver a great story that's almost fully faithful to the original games. The acting is great too, as the actors really do feel like they're living what they're acting for, such as that blood-curling scream that's heard at one point. Sure, there are somne technical issues and even bloopers, like when the clock shows 11:54 in one shot, then 11:57 in the next, and then 11:54 again. This is seen in the first night. There are also strange frame rate drops at many points.

The Hidden Nightmares by Smamuel

  • Recommended by: Nerd-with-a-Pencil
  • Warnings: Flashing lights, unsettling imagery, static, mild/implied gore, loud noises, and jumpscares (taken from a Content Warning at the start of the video).
  • Synopsis: An Animated Music Video of "Hidden in the Sand" which redesigns/reimagines the Nightmare animatronics, trading in the overblown robotic/decay aesthetic for a good ol' plunge deep into the Uncanny Valley.
  • Comments: If the exaggerated designs of the animatronics from 4 have become Nightmare Retardant by now, give this video a look-see. Ironically, the only jumpscare in this video comes from the Crying Child, who's just as eery as the rest of them. The Nightmare designs can also be found isolated here.

Can't Go Home Again by Mable

  • Recommended by: tlc2014
  • Status: Complete.

  • Comments: Surprisingly heartwarming. While it's based on a now-Jossed theory, it's easy enough to ignore the change to the Puppet's identity, considering the games themselves aren't too explicit about it either. It has reached a grand total of a hundred chapters long. A HUNDRED.

  • Synopsis: Mike Schmidt is an endless optimist. But this positive outlook won't keep you alive as a night watchman at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza - or will it? A humourous series about our favourite night guard and the rest of the Fazbear clan.

The Just Another Night at Freddy's series by "DeltaV"

  • Now has a trope page!
  • Recommended by: tlc2014, Le Pouvantail
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: None
  • Warning: Female!Bonnie
  • Synopsis: It's been a grand total of two weeks since Night 7, and the animatronics aren't particularly keen on killing Mike anymore. And yet, somehow, things still happen, ranging from Foxy stealing Mike's keys to Mike's parents visiting for a night. Naturally, Hilarity Ensues. Usually.
  • Comments: Don't be fooled by the similar premise to After Hours; this is actually older than it. One of the best, if not the best, Five Nights at Freddy's fanfics on the Internet. Delta writes surprisingly well, and is capable of performing Mood Whiplash, though rarely, with ease. Highly recommended if you're a FNaF fan, and still recommended if you're just vaguely familiar with the games.
  • Now has a sequel. Just another Night at Fazbear's Fright. (Dormant) Which this troper recommends greatly.

  • Synopsis by author: He isn't getting paid enough to deal with this.

Mike's New Ghostly Family by Archcommander Tenebros

  • ''Recommended by: Tropemaster 849
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: Freddy Fazbear's tale has come to a close. Mike and the girl inside the Puppet are the only two left who know the full story, and the older man has adopted the last pizzeria's sole survivor in all but name. But neither of them expected the ghosts of the murdered children to return, nor did they expect their family to expand so dramatically in such a short time.
  • Comments: Basically, an older Mike Schmidt and the Puppet, who survived the events of FNAF 6, adopting the ghosts of the children that were inside the original animatronics and Baby. There are a lot of family moments in this fic and it's very cute, especially if you felt bad for the ghosts. I would strongly recommend reading the pre-fic, A Legacy Laid to Rest first as it explains some more backstory.

Poor Little Souls By Shadowfang 14

  • Status: Complete
  • Recommended By Catcher In The Wry
  • Synopsis: Mike Schmidt knew the stories. He heard the rumors, of how the animatronic characters at Freddy Fazbear's come alive at night. How they go after every night guard who comes to work at the place-and how they then kill them by stuffing them into a suit. But with the help of an unlikely ally, he may live long enough to find out what's really going on.
  • Comments: Beautifully written, it takes its own spin on a story told many times before and does a damn good job. Recommended for everyone teen and up.

The Restless Souls by FanaticAo387

  • Recommended by: Alyssa Macki
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: It's been over a year since Charlie returned to her childhood home and faced the man who destroyed her life and took away her family. Since then she has done everything possible to move on from Freddy's and the memories that haunt her. Going as far as to sell her old family home and move across the country with her now-boyfriend John.
But the past always knows how to stay with someone. A forgotten figure from her father's past returns with a plan for Freddy's. One that will pit Charlie against both an old foe and someone she lost long ago.
  • Comments: If you read the FNAF novels but were disapointed by the twist ending, this fic is an excellent palette cleanser. Charlie and John have such a cute dynamic, and all the characters are greatly and wonderfully expanded upon based on how the events of The Silver Eyes could have changed them. Also brilliant themes of characters having very opposing thoughts on things, and on how events of the past affect and haunt the future. Also is part of a series, Five Nights At Freddie's: Ghosts of Our Fathers.

  • Comments: YMMV on whether the first story's cliffhanger of an ending is heartwarming or horrifying, though the second story heavily implies that it's the latter.

  • Synopsis by author: A renovation to the infamous pizzeria brings on a new hope it will actually last this time, and not end up like the other times. But what's the child version of hell without a night-shift guard to be apart of it all? Needing money for rent and to help contribute to her father's surgery, Lizzy Parker takes the job. Rated T because it's Fazbear's. I own nothing but my own oc's.

Something Always Remains by Nightmare1

  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: AU. During Mike Schmidt's tenure, strange and terrifying things lead to the discovery of a hidden room, and a strange, empty animatronic suit that holds more than a few dark secrets to the past. Initially lured to Freddy Fazbear's with his own mystery to solve, Mike finds himself delving deeper into tragedies long since forgotten...and the one behind them.
  • Comments: I’ve been binging this one the last few days, and the synopsis doesn’t lie, nor does it do it justice. Mike goes to Freddy’s to look for information about someone who disappeared. As each night passes, he learns something new: that the animatronics are haunted, that something happened to the original owners, that what little information he has about his missing person doesn’t add up, and that his best friend is somehow involved in all of this. There’s a major side plot with Mike’s best friend, Vanna, that not only gets into her involvement with the Fazbear franchise, but shows how a tragic event in the past can domino into the future, and how that pain can carry into the next generation. The Puppet and Springtrap get the most plot-heavy involvement (and Puppet rides nice balance of creepy and cute), but all of the animatronics have clear personalities and bring their share of laughs and scares. The author said this took four years to write, and it shows: it’s well-paced, well-written, and there’s a lot of subtle foreshadowing, some planted from the very first chapter. This is a very long fic, though, so if you're looking for an AU FNAF novel, try this one.

Tortured Soul by autobotgirl12328

  • Recommended by: Koolkev
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A personal account from the robotic eyes and mind of Foxy. It's the year 1987, Foxy is the newest addition at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and the kids already loved him from the start. Thanks to his creator, Tyler, Foxy can walk, talk, and feel emotions to connect with his new friends and the children. But, what happens when his emotions get the best of him? Foxy makes a fatal mistake that could surely spell doom for him and the entire restaurant.
  • Comments: Great storytelling and wonderful characterization! You can actually feel the robots' emotions, pain, and suffering. The overall tone of the story is quite upbeat but around the last few chapters, the story takes a turn for the worst. There are Tear Jerker moments and a grim conclusion that brings us to where the game takes place today. (Non-canon warning: Major characters like Ben and Tyler that don't exist in the games, and Bonnie is female.)

  • Official Synopsis: Christopher hates the pizzeria. His birthday party is in five days, and each day his dread gets worse and his lack of sleep takes a worse toll on him. His brother doesn't make matters any better, either, putting on a Foxy mask and scaring him at any opportunity. It seems like he never stops crying. But they're just animatronics... what's the worst thing that could happen?
  • Comments: Short and simple, this 'fic basically acts as a written version of the events of Five Nights at Freddy's 4. Oddly enough, though, it tends to stay true to the source better than other stories.

Upon Daybreak, Upon Nightfall, Upon Dusk and Upon the Final Morning by My Reality Is My Own

  • Recommended by: Heavens Fang
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Upon Daybreak: After one of the restaurant's previous guards attacks the animatronics in the middle of Mike's shift - and, of course, Mike saves them - things change. Soon, Mike and his new-found friends stumble across things that were meant to be forgotten.
    • Upon Nightfall: Two months after the events of Daybreak, things seem to be going fine. But... shadows of the past are, slowly but surely, creeping back into their lives.
    • Upon Dusk: Not long after Nightfall, things seem to be winding down at last; then Eggs Benedict calls Mike to ask for help with his own animatronic problem. Between a building's worth of new animatronics, several dark secrets and the unexpected reappearance of a familiar face... it's certainly more than he signed up for.
    • Final Morning is arguably too spoilery for the other three to even properly summarize.

  • Status: Ongoing
  • Official Synopsis: Taking shelter from a storm in an old abandoned building on the edge of town, Jade ‘Anxiety on Main’ Lumens finds a group of creepy old robots that were left behind by the previous owners.
They have been there for a very, very, long time.
Long enough that perhaps they can overcome their distrust of human adults, if only for the chance for something to finally *change*.
Jade is just hopeful she has more luck interacting with animatronics than she has had with people.
But Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza is still steeped in the darkness of its past, and the poison keeps bleeding through despite the many years.

  • Synopsis: A Role Swap AU between Glamrock Freddy and Roxanne Wolf.
  • Comments: The fic is largely a retelling of Security Breach's gameplay, but it does have significant differences, like how Roxy can see Vanny, some scenes involving Roxy's self-esteem issues, and Freddy's involvement. The author also intends for the fic to have Multiple Endings, some rewritten, at least one new, as well as improve upon things such as Vanny's role and Burntrap. Note that Roxy receives some pre-Ruin Adaptational Nice Guy treatment.

  • Synopsis: With the opening of Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex, a whole new generation of children (and their parents' money) are welcomed into the world of Freddy and his friends! Come play, rock, eat pizza, and forget about those pesky rumors you may have heard; in time, rumors die! Of course, things that die have a way of coming back to haunt us, don't they?
  • Comments: Chapters range from pretty tame childhood drama to graphic horror (as graphic as T-rated can get, lol.) The characters are given the spotlight and some characters get name dropped in one chapter, then you see them turn into the main character of a later chapter. Occasionally follows someone that’s set up to be the creator of the newer animatronics and has a history with the company that hasn’t been revealed yet. Chapters are pretty long and self contained little stories within themselves. Still early on in story but well written!

Five Nights At Freddy's: Violet Version by songhunt

  • Recommended by: firework
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: A retelling of sorts of the games' main story - or, as the author puts it, maybe it's what really happened. Almost every character gets a short story of their own, and it fills in a lot of blanks. Has some attached tie-in photos in the notes, at least one video, and an official soundtrack (even if it's really a Youtube playlist). Nothing after UCN is canon here.
  • Comments: A genuinely chilling and realistic read for the most part, and incredibly effective at pulling at your heartstrings inbetween. Deepens relationships, provides a detailed look into everyone's thoughts - the narrative is even interspersed with little interludes from their minds - and everything hits a thousand times harder in the games if you're playing with this in mind as the story. If you're a sucker for detail, not a fan of certain fan-theory aspects or are looking for a full explanation on the games' story, chances are you'll love this. However, it is definitely not suitable for younger fans. Contains swearing, explicit gore and violence in parts, and some decidedly hard-hitting horror inbetween.

Rainbow Dash's Five Nights at Freddy's by X the Reaper

  • Recommended by: eagle108, SanDemonMax
  • Crossover: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Takes place sometime after Season 4 (though it's not known if this is before or after Rainbow Rocks). Rainbow Dash accidentally destroys the sign of a certain soon-to-be closed pizzeria while on an errand for Twilight Sparkle, and being the bearer of the Element of Loyalty, takes on the graveyard shift for five nights to pay off the debt. Easy job, right? Not unless one is dealing with "magic dolls" that have... "quirks".
  • Comments: While the world of Equestria is primarily run by a combination of magic and a bit of technology, animatronics are considered "magic dolls" and telephones are seen to be introduced as a new thing. X the Reaper blends the rules of FNaF into MLP perfectly, keeping the reader in suspense as to whether Rainbow is going to make it to 6AM or not. As with magic, things are always more than meets the eye once she starts the first night...
    • SanDemonMax: First thing: I am not a fan of My Little Pony. Not just Friendship, either; never was a fan of any generation. I only really like Dash as she is in Friendship is Magic, and even then I prefer everyone as people. That said, this story was incredible. From what I've seen across the internet, Dash was in character, and I liked how she would talk to Foxy while she would wait for her shift to start. This came to a head as her week at Freddy's was winding down and the other animatronics would get majorly aggressive because of Golden Freddy, and even when Golden Freddy himself showed up. The closure for four of the five fawns that were stuffed in the suits at the end of everything didn't hurt, either.

  • Synopsis: Down on his luck, former detective Adachi is talked into accepting an easy job as a night guard at the local family super store, Junes. The job ends up the complete opposite of easy, and no one mentioned that the animatronics were a bit… unique.
  • Comments: A good blending of the characters and setting of the Persona 4 world but playing by the rules of FNAF, whilst not detracting the experience for readers who aren't well versed in either work. There is a sequel currently (as off 9/12/2014) being written set three years later that is worth a look as well.

Five Weeks at Freddy's by The Gentleman Xerneas

  • Recommended by: JohnDoe010, Le Pouvantail
  • Crossover: SCP Foundation
  • Status: Dead
  • Synopsis: Mike Schmidt is in a rough patch at the moment, forcing him to take on an extra part-time job as a security guard for a kid's restaurant on its last legs. The ad in the paper made it seem easy enough even if it's underpaid work, but little does Mike know Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, during the night, is Hell on Earth.
  • Tags: Horror, Suspense
  • Comments: Even only having a vague knowledge of SCP Foundation, this fic gives you a good look into it while keeping the Freddy's characters in focus. The author has a knack for describing the terror and helplessness that comes with this job (and more!). At times, you can practically feel Mike's Sanity Slippage as he tries to make the best of a nearly hopeless situation, and celebrate with him each time he lasts another night—while dreading if the next night will be the one that finally breaks him. Every character has a good, distinct personality, and the animatronics in this one are downright chilling in comparison to other interpretations of them. If you're looking for the scarier side of the fandom, then this one will hit the spot.

Wheatley's Nights at Freddy's by BabyCharmander

  • Recommended by: Jaywings
  • Crossover: Portal 2
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: In a desperate attempt to escape being punished by GLaDOS, Wheatley begs for a job, but the job he gets isn't exactly what he was expecting. Now he must survive an unknown number of nights at a part of Aperture that has, for many years, lied dormant. But its inhabitants have been waiting...
  • Comments: Aperture has an old wing populated by evil animatronics that are dangerously jealous of more up-to-date electronics, and the hapless Wheatley has been set as the security guard watching over them. This story uses the elements from the first Five Nights at Freddy's game and, while at the beginning it feels a bit like a regular playthrough of FNAF with Wheatley's dialogue put in, in later chapters it shakes things up quite a bit. All of the Portal characters are very IC, there's a lot of funny dialogue between the characters, and while it's harder to tell whether the FNAF animatronics are "IC" or not, they do act as they do in the game. It is definitely a fun read for people who are familiar with both games.
