Proof that the remaining 10% is worth being drenched in sludge for here.

These are recommendations made by Tropers for Captain Planet and the Planeteers fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Feel free to add a fanfic of your own to the list, but remember to use the template found here.

You can also add to the current recommendations if you want. Refrain from posting Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

Page Reconfiguration in Progress: Fanfic Recommendations is being split into pages for each individual series, so help is needed to classify each entry into the appropriate category, and to format it according to the template.

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

Give Up the Fight by OzQueene

  • Recommended by Elmon
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: The Planeteers take on a mission that threatens to tear them apart forever.
  • Pairings: Wheeler/Linka, Wheeler/Gi. In the following installments, Wheeler/Linka, Linka/OC and there is implied Plunder/Blight.
  • Tags: There's certainly nothing romantic here. There's a lot of angst, a lot of hurt, some comforting, and some darker issues like abuse, violence and drug addiction.
  • Comments: This is actually the first part in what is a huge trilogy. Huge as in heavy reading, not necessarily long. Though it does feature romantic complications between the Planeteers (somewhat a Love Triangle), the trilogy focuses mainly on one mission which tears the team apart, the lives they have as individuals, and then the mission which brings them together again. Linka and Wheeler are the main characters and the main pairing, but it's not teeth-achingly sweet like a lot of the other fics around - anything but, in fact. The three stories copped a lot of abuse for daring to pair Wheeler (albeit briefly) with someone other than Linka. The third story of the series also dedicates a lot of time to some of the eco-villains. Regardless of the main pairing, the full trilogy focuses on all five team members and how they work (or don't work) together during intense missions. Nice to see Captain Planet himself fill a huge role in the third installment.

Alternate Destination by Missgoldy

  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A supernatural storm wrecks havoc with Hope Island one night, leading to a strange turn of events for the Planeteers. Upon waking, Linka finds herself alone and realizes that nothing is what it seems.
  • Pairings: Wheeler/Linka
  • Tags: Time Travel, supernatural, angst, death
  • Comments: Something completely different to any other Captain Planet fanfic out there. The idea is original and extremely well thought out. The character development - particularly in Wheeler's case - is believable and justified. It's not a completely happy ending, but it leaves the reader feeling extremely satisfied and a little breathless once all the intensity has passed.
  • Trope page under construction.

Heroes for Earth by Stephensmat

  • Recommended by Wolfman2000
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Our World is in Peril. The conscious soul of the Earth is aware that since the error is ours, the Power to stop the chaos must be ours as well. An updated retelling of the series pilot. An Origin Story based on the premise of the show.
  • Pairings: Wheeler/Linka
  • Comments: This feels like a Darker and Edgier origin story while still keeping some of the charm/narm that made the original show so memorable. Some of the names of the bad guys have changed, but are usually recognizable to fans of the show. All in all, it's a good read.
    • Seconded by Fax Modem 1, it's rather good. Imagine a Captain Planet story done right, where instead of having five hollow, 2 dimensional main characters, we have real helpless people who care about the Earth and are stuck in desperate situations, crying out for a way to fix things. Instead of a blue skinned, green haired superhero with powers constantly making puns, we have the Planeteer's superweapon that is a Lovecraftian walking monster that could annihilate the human race Instead of villains who pollute for the lulz, we have monstrous and petty people who only care about their own gain, and will do anything to get it. I definitely recommend this one.
  • Now has its own trope page
    • Has a sequel here (Complete).
