Wii Deleted You: Recursive Data is an ongoing Rewrite and Adaptation Expansion of Wii Deleted You made by somepersonnamedcaloy/AzulStryer, with the storyline putting more emphasis on the characters, making it the real selling point. Also, there's finally swearing. No more sons of motherless goats here, there will be actual and genuine profanities. The tone is that of a Drama Series in text form.
While the series follows the storyline in chronological order, elements like Kyle's Story and Sam's Story will still be present, but new stories are made to fill in the gaps and provide context for certain parts of the story, alongside adding new characters to the story. It's also written in the same way the original Creepypasta was.
As of writing, the fanfic is dormant due to the creator getting burned out.
Is it true that you can feel someone's tropes even when they're no longer with us?:
- Ascended Extra: With the characters being at the forefront, it's inevitable that Recursive Data would increase their role.
- The person who exclaims that Eteled is the weirdest Mii he's ever seen in his entire life? He's known as Roy Anderson, and even gets his own chapters, hinting at him being a major player in the plot.
- Mike Scottsville is shown with bigger prominence than the original. He's one of the main characters due to being an associate of Jonathan Sanders, was the person who told Todd to pause the video in "Eteled: Origins", and the man who got the Nintendo Wii posessing Eteled that Jonathan and Roy bought for Kyle.
- Adaptational Context Change:
- The circumstances of Austin's murder. In the original version, Henry murdered Austin out of jealousy for rising up in the ranks of Nintendo of America relatively quickly, while he was left in the dust. "Hatred's Tether" reveals that the two are Childhood Friends, and Henry's murder of Austin was a very tragic case of Mistaken Identity that lead to the latter's death, all because he thought his Evil Uncle survived being left to burn in his own mansion...
- Henry apologizing to Austin for killing him. The original version doesn't carry much weight due to the fact that Henry felt more like he was trying to save his own skin, and was only done after they both got stuck in the Wii, not helped by the fact that Henry killed Austin because he was jealous. In "My World", it has more weight: Austin and Henry are friends in this version of Wii Deleted You, and it's shown that Henry is explicitly remorseful for murdering the person who loved him the most, especially because it happened due to a fatal instance of Mistaken Identity.
- Adaptational Sympathy: While the narrative acknowledges that his actions are rephrehensible and can't be excused with a sad past, Henry Morris is played in a more tragic light compared to the original version, portraying him as more of a tortured soul who suffered at the hands of his previous parents to the point he'd rather stay in the background, and had a genuine bond with Austin that ended in the worst way possible. The fact that Henry is genuinely remorseful for the murder of Austin only adds to it.
- Adaptational Villainy: Todd Kennington wasn't exactly the best person in Wii Deleted You, only seeming to care about his company doing well and seeing himself above people. Here, he traps multiple Nintendo Of America employees due to the fear that several of them know too much, blackmailed another employee into assisting with the murders to keep their family safe, and outright murders a teenager while 3 people watched in horror. Last but not least, he's also the Abusive Parent of Henry Morris.
- Berserker Tears: During "Hatred's Tether", Henry is mentioned to be crying while confronting Austin, who in this case has mistaken his friend for his Evil Uncle that betrayed him. His reaction to seeing who he thinks is his uncle is all too personal...Henry: “You heartless asshole…! I thought you died in that fire all those years ago, BUT YOU JUST HAD TO COME BACK TO MY LIFE, DIDN’T YOU, YOU MOTHERFUCKER?!"
- Central Theme: People who are long gone can have a hold on those who are alive and the events that come after. The death of Austin Sanders and Henry Morris are constantly weighing on Jonathan and Mike's minds. Roy Anderson has lost two of his dearest friends (Sandria Markinson & Adam Harlor) and he's already suffering to the point that he's stabbed Ronnie Jones over it.
- Darker and Edgier: And how! Recursive Data has taken the elements from the original that made it a little intense, and amplified it. Starting from "Eteled: Origins", Henry is Driven to Suicide due to the remorse he feels from murdering Austin, Austin being implied to have done something to Henry at the end of "Hatred's Tether", Judah, Sandria, and Adam being straight up murdered by Todd Kennington during "Roy's Story 1", and lastly, Roy stabbing Ronnie during "Lamentis" in response to the deaths of the three. All of this in the first few chapters. Alongside actual swears!
