Where the Truth Lies is an Animorphs Alternate Universe Fic by Torren. The "Andalite bandits" were defeated after only a few months, but fortunately for humanity, the Yeerk invasion was exposed when a freak accident caused the Pool Ship to crash to Earth. One year later, two mysterious teenagers calling themselves Jordan and Kat are caught trespassing at the infamous construction site, and are taken to Zone 91 for questioning.

This fanfic contains examples of:
- Adaptational Heroism: David is working to save the Animorphs, since he never had the chance to betray them like in canon.
- Atrocious Alias: David makes fun of Melissa's alias, Kat Hendricks; he thinks that the first name is unoriginal, and thinks that her surname is a reference to Jimmy Hendrix until Tom tells him it's her dad's name.
- Canon Character All Along: It turns out that "Jordan" is Tom and "Kat" is Melissa.
- Character Name Alias: Tom comes up with his fake first name, Jordan, on the spot after Michael Jordan, after his interrogator introduces himself as Special Agent Michaels.
- Dramatis Personae: It begins with a list of all the characters, but then notes that "all of the above is a lie."
- In-Series Nickname: The Animorphs have come to be known as the Shape Shifters, and civilians call Yeerks "brain slugs".
- Obfuscating Stupidity: "Jordan" insists that he was never infested, while Kat claims she knows nothing about Yeerks at all. Turns out they're both lying.
- The Reveal: The teenagers are Tom and Melissa, who can morph and are working with David to find the Time Matrix and save the Animorphs.
- Script Fic: It's written in the form of a stage play, with scene breaks and a cast list at the start.
- Two Scenes, One Dialogue: Scene 5 alternates between Dr. Ballard interrogating Jordan and Agent Michaels interrogating Kat about the Shape Shifters.
