Go To

Villain Song is a completed Wish fanfic by Roving Otter.

Eight years after Magnifico falls, Amaya passes off into death. Asha now has the crown, but with disorder and chaos on the horizon, it proves to be more of a heavy burden. With her kingdom on the verge of crisis, Asha must consult an old foe for help, but how can she get it without risking him slipping away to cause trouble?

Villain Song contains the following tropes:

  • Adaptational Villainy: Bambi the deer, now grown, is a ruthless prince who plans to sacrifice Bazeema unless an exchange is made.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: A heroic example: with her newly inherited kingdom coming apart, Asha is willing to bully the chained-up Magnifico into helping her stabilize her country.
  • Beneath the Mask: Asha broods about Magnifico managing to hide his true nature from the population for so long, playing the saint while being the sinner.
  • Dare to Be Badass: Valentino gently encourages Asha to confront Magnifico by telling her to be brave.
  • Happy Ending Override: Shortly after Amaya began to rule, Rosas was struck by plagues and instability that killed and sickened many, including Amaya.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Magnifico offers his lifeblood to the forest to save Bazeema.
  • Not Afraid of You Anymore: Downplayed with Asha, who still feels a pang of nervousness going near Magnifico but steels herself to confront him by reminding herself that he's in chains and can’t possibly threaten her, along with some encouragement from Valentino.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Asha reminds herself that he has returned from a pathetic state before, and despite Magnifico's poor condition, she shouldn’t underestimate him.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: The story commences with Amaya dying a year after the film, forcing Asha into the role of queen and eventually driving her to seek Magnifico for advice.
  • Restraining Bolt: Asha has a magic restraining collar placed on Magnifico to prevent him from acting out. Magnifico, while annoyed, is impressed with Asha's growing ruthlessness.
  • Time Skip: The story is set eight years after Magnifico’s downfall and imprisonment.
