Total Drama Superstars
by IowaKnight is basically the “what not to do” fic of Total Drama. Unfortunately, it was made completely unironically, and the author legitimately believes it is a good story. In it, self-insert character Luke joins the show, along with the fifty-one previous contestants (not counting Blaineley) in a season of Total Drama. Poor spelling and grammar, OOC characters, and laughable writing choices abound.
Total Drama Superstars contains the following tropes:
- Adaptational Jerkass: Scott, who is obviously meant to be the Big Bad, in canon was a very pragmatic villain who never resorted to violence, and was actually the least Jerkass of the six canon antagonists. In Superstars, he is extremely petty, violent, much more of a bully than he was in canon, and has absolutely no friends. Sure, he wasn’t exactly popular in All-Stars, but many of the first-generation contestants found him endearing enough.
- Cody as well, due to an OOC hatred of children.
- Adaptational Wimp: Cameron is one of the weaker contestants in canon, but it's exaggerated in this fanfic.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Sugar, whose villainy and arrogance are entirely forgotten, and she's even shaping up to be Noah’s main love interest. Never mind that he has a girlfriend at this point in the timeline.
- Author Appeal: The author doesn't even try to hide Luke's self-insert status. Everyone who doesn't love him is a villain, and he’s unrealistically good at everything.
- Flanderization: If a character wasn't flat as a sheet of paper in canon, they are now.
- Hated by All: Scott, which begs the question of how he hasn't been eliminated yet.
