Go To

The Young Wolf and the Lion Princess is a fanfiction in the universe of Game of Thrones where Myrcella Baratheon is betrothed to Robb Stark instead of Sansa to Joffrey.

Tropes appearing in this fanfic:

  • Adapted Out: Since Tyrion stays at Winterfell after delivering Jon to the Wall to give Myrcella away for her wedding, the getting kidnapped at the Crossroads doesn't happen and he manages to get south with little incident. Therefore, Ned doesn't get injured by Jaime.
  • Adaptational Badass: Myrcella, from the looks of it, is a greenseer. She's also learning to fight under Maege Mormont.
  • Age Lift: Robb is roughly his show equivalent in age, while Myrcella is aged up to 14. Sansa is at least 15.
  • Arranged Marriage: Robb is betrothed to Myrcella because Sansa is betrothed to Domeric Bolton.
  • Ascended Extra: Robb and Myrcella, neither were POV characters in the books.
  • Beta Couple: Domeric and Sansa.
  • Big Brother Bully: Joffrey. Myrcella flashes back to an incident when Joffrey had been bullying Tommen and she had stopped him, calling him a monster. Joffrey responded by beating her and calling her a whore.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Cersei gives a couple to Jaime after he shuts down her protestations that Robb will steal Myrcella.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Cersei gives one when Jaime jokes to her that Robb is bedding Myrcella.
  • Death by Adaptation: Ramsay Snow.
  • Dead Fic: Not updated since April 2018.
  • Doomed by Canon: King Robert Baratheon, Ned Stark.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: Myrcella has a few dreams referencing events in the show, such as the rebirth of dragons and the Green Trial.
  • Flaying Alive: It's heavily implied to be Reek's fate.
  • Honor Before Reason: Robb decides to stand by Myrcella after hearing of her true parentage.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • Ned finding out about the Lannincest and then losing his head.
    • Arya going on the run in the Riverlands. As of the most recent chapter, there's word spreading of hell breaking loose at Harrenhal, presumably caused by Jaqen H'ghar.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: The Hound had forced Joffrey to stop beating Myrcella.
  • Make-Out Kids: Robb and Myrcella. There's a couple chapters worth of them doing foreplay, but not actually having sex.
  • Mutual Kill: Ramsay Snow and one of his attempted victims are found dead by Roose, Domeric and Sansa.
  • Not So Stoic: Roose Bolton's stoic composure outright breaks when he finds Ramsay dead.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Roose outlives Ramsay.
  • Prophecy Twist: The prophecy read to Cersei was changed for the story, where Myrcella's demise was not mentioned.
  • Put on a Bus:
    • Sansa. At the beginning of the story, she's being fostered at the Dreadfort as she's Domeric's betrothed. She and Domeric show up for a couple chapters and then get put back on the bus after Chapter 10. As of Chapter 16, they're presumably running the Dreadfort in Lord Roose's absence.
    • Jon doesn't appear after going to the Wall.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Domeric Bolton.
  • Stay in the Kitchen: Lord Rickard Karstark is not pleased by Myrcella's involvement in Robb's affairs.
"Women should obey their husbands, they shouldn't rule them. Women exist to bear children, not to engage in politics."
