Fanfic / The Phoenix Connexion

Go To

Powers are often the only things that make a person after a trigger event. Take that away, and watch as they revert back to their broken states. Fortunately, that can never happen, right?

Taylor Hebert disagrees with that notion. Broken even more, she'll have to rise above like a Phoenix.

OR

Capes fuck around and find out when dealing with the lovechild of Crusader and Hatchet Face.

The Phoenix Connexion is a Worm/Counter-Strike crossover, that can be found on Spacebattles and Sufficient Velocity. It is written by t99_2020.

This work contains examples of:

  • Beyond the Impossible: While unaware about Taylor's SAS being projections, the PRT and British government are left flabbergast that non-parahuman SAS operatives killed some of the strongest capes of the E88 without a single man lost.
  • Blinded by the Light: The Phoenix Connection very frequently uses flashbang grenades against both normal gangsters and parahumans.
  • Boom, Headshot!: A common fate for Taylor's enemies.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: The SAS projections have no qualms with torturing E88 gangsters for information. They made one E88 gangster to truthfully reveal Kaiser's plan against the Phoenix Connection.
  • Cops Need the Vigilante: While the PRT disapproved the actions of Taylor's projections, at least one PRT soldier privately voiced his appreciation of Taylor's SAS for killing E88 capes and gangsters, in which he offered to buy them a drink for killing Hookwolf.
  • Elites Are More Glamorous: Taylor's first Counter Terrorist projections are the SAS, who waged the Five Days of Terror against the E88 and winning. Velocity (who is ex-military) and the older PRT soldiers, who wrongly assume them for the real SAS, were left in awe and fear of them. Their actions caught the attention of Earth Bet's real SAS, who assume their counterparts belonged to a cell that went rogue.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: The PRT and the real SAS wrongly believes that Taylor's projections are rogue special forces operatives working with a parahuman(s) who is providing them power nullification among others.
  • Gas Mask Mooks: The SAS projections are all wearing gas masks. It makes them even more horrifying.
  • Mook Horror Show: During The Five Days of Terror arc, we are shown just how scary Taylor's projections can be.
  • Oh, Crap!: Sophia/Shadowstalker has this reaction when her powers were not working due to being near Taylor's vicinity. She mistakenly believed that Hatchet Face was present.
    • Hookwolf's reaction to the clicking sound of the time bomb.
    • The Protectorate and Piggot are left freaked out to learn that a cape (Taylor) has a power nullifier similar to Hatchet Face's and wrongly assume that said cape is helping a rogue SAS cell in Brockton.
  • Power Nullifier: Taylor's other main power is to gradually weaken Parahuman's power until they lose it completely. She wasn't even aware of this power until the Phoenix Connection killed a powerless Menja.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Taylor Triggered after her father became grievously injured and fell into a vegetative coma in a fight between Empire and ABB capes. Her campaign as leader of the Phoenix Connection is to put down all the gangs in Brockton Bay with extreme prejudice.
  • Rogue Agent: The SAS and PRT wrongly assume that the SAS projections are real SAS operatives who went rogue.
  • Smuggling with Dolls: Booth smuggles his weapons and equipment through cargo shipments of toys.
  • These Hands Have Killed: Taylor kills a Neo-Nazi who is no older than her and he cries out in his last words regretting for joining the E88 and begging for his mother. Upon hearing his last words, Taylor falls into maniacal laughter.
  • Unfriendly Fire: The E88 and Gesellschaft later killed Kaiser for being a liability and being recklessly paranoid following his losses against the Phoenix Connection, in which he had killed two of his mooks for mistakenly believing they are traitors. They have Purity to remove his head and dumped his corpse to the ocean before claiming to the public that Kaiser died in a car bomb.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Kaiser fell into a paranoid wreck after the Payback arc, and even randomly killing two of his people for being supposed "traitors to the white race." Because of his instability and his failure against the Phoenix Connection, the Gesellschaft deemed him a liability and the rest of the surviving E88 killed Kaiser and replaced him with Purity.
  • Villains Want Mercy: A sole surviving E88 member begs Cutthroat not to kill him, but ends up with a bullet to his head.
