Fanfic / The Multiverser of the League

Go To

''The Multiverser of the League'' is an OC-insert fanfiction in The Multiverser Saga set in the world of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen written by Anime PJ. It is his third work in the Saga, though admits it is set a lot further ahead than his other works and feels he jumped the gun a bit. The summary on the site reads thusly:

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was always my favourite comic because it gave Britain its own superhero team. Now that I'm a Multiverser, I thought that I may as well join. After all, what else is an immortal Englishman to do with his time?

Tropes Relating to The Multiverser of the League:

  • Actually Pretty Funny - Dexter, despite how much he loathes Griffin, lets slip a genuine laugh when the Invisible Man mocks Mycroft Holmes' weight. He even uses those exact words afterwards.
  • All Myths Are True - And all fiction, too. It's been implied that Dexter witnessed and even took part in a lot of them personally.
  • Armour-Piercing Question - Dexter asking Quatermain how he ended up an opium addict.
"How did you go from the man who found King Solomon's Mines to a drug addict in Cairo?"
  • Attempted Rape - Hawley Griffin/the Invisible Man tries this with Blue Heart. Of course, some of the girls at the boarding school he was hiding out in weren't as lucky as to have it only be "attempted."
  • Bad Boss - The first M., Professor James Moriarty, used the League in an attempt to win a gang war he techincally could have just let sit since faking his death.
  • The Berserker - Edward Hyde.
  • Berserk Button - Hawley Griffin unknowingly hits one of Dexter's when he cuts the throat of an unconscious man who poses no immediate threat.
  • Bloodier and Gorier - Already this story has proved it's going to be a lot more violent than some other stories in the Multiverser Saga.
  • Boring, but Practical - Blue Heart knocks out Griffin rather simply when torturing him for a bit would have seemed like a vastly appealing option.
  • Crapsack World - Considering the source material, this is a given.
  • Darker and Edgier - Compared to other stories in the Multiverser Saga, this has much less funny/lighthearted moments and is shown within the first three chapters to be unafraid of going dark with the plot.
  • The Dragon - Campion Bond to M.
  • Dysfunction Junction - The members of the League don't all get along as well as most superhero teams do.
  • Evil Empire - The British Empire is treated this way by Nemo, and even Dexter, an immortal Englishman who is proud of his country, admits that the British Empire isn't nearly as good a thing as everyone seems to think.
  • Evil Is Sterile - Averted. At least three of Griffin's rape victims became pregnant with his children.
  • Gender Bender - Dexter is shown to be able to turn into a woman named Blue Heart.
  • Groin Attack - Alexis Verser pulled one of these on Griffin using a magically summoned bear trap.
  • Hate Sink - Hawley Griffin/The Invisible Man is introduced in an all-female boarding school where he's been molesting the the students, and he only gets worse from there.
  • Lemon - Three of them popped up in chapter four.
  • Take That! - The author clearly does not like the film adaptation of the comic he's based this fic on. There are several derogatory remarks, both in the author's notes and within the story itself, that are aimed directly at the movie.
  • Token Evil Teammate - Hawley Griffin/The Invisible Man.
