Fanfic / The Mis-adventures of Gattinera

Go To

The Mis-adventures of Gattinera was a Miraculous Ladybug Role Swap AU by SpartanXHunterX, with the divergence point being Lila arriving in Paris much earlier... and receiving the Black Cat Miraculous in Adrien's place, thus becoming the heroine Gattinera. Can be read here.

May be a Dead Fic. See Died During Production on the Trivia page.

The Mis-adventures of Gattinera provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance:
    • In the show, Lila only appears in the season 1 finale (before becoming a more regular member of the cast in season three and onward), while here she's around from the start, though she doesn't interact with the class in her civilian identity.
    • A Bunnyx may have appeared as early as the first chapter.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Lila doesn't get the chance to descend into villainy, and in fact becomes more heroic as the story goes.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Lila here is either a lesbian or bisexual.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Gattinera is extremely intelligent, and takes advantage of it to know where to hit the Akumas.
  • Closet Key: Chloé and especially Marinette for Lila.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Gattinera will shamelessly take advantage of whatever weakness the enemy has, especially if they can't cover for it. Case in point, Lady Wifi gets the nearest repeater Cataclysmed before she even sees Gattinera.
  • Consummate Liar: Lila, of course. This is actually part of how she received the Miraculous; when Fu was giving her the test, she spontaneously claimed to volunteer at elderly's homes.
    • Compulsive Liar: At times Lila has trouble not lying to make herself seem more interesting, much to her chagrin.
  • Curse: Turns out Juleka was actually cursed to never get a picture right. The curse was lifted when Plagg took it... And gave it to Gattinera (and only Gattinera, Lila's picture can still be taken). Doesn't work with statues, as long as the sculptor can see Gattinera in person.
  • Glamour: The one that protects Ladybug and Gattinera's identities... And kept Theo from realizing he was crushing on a teenager.
  • Guile Heroine: Lila's manipulations are used to trick the Akumas and distract Alya from getting any lead on them.
  • Homeschooled Kids: Lila, due something she pulled at her previous school, is kept on online classes.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: Comes with the territory of being the Black Cat.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Theo Barbot: his statue of Gattinera has extremely poor details, that when confronted about he justifies with "I did the best I could in the time I had", and his admiration and crush for Ladybug utterly creeps out both heroes. Turns out that Gattinera's picture curse prevented him from having any detailed picture of her to base his statue on and the glamour kept him from realizing he was crushing on a teenager, and he makes up for both by having Gattinera Cataclysm his statue of the heroes so he'll be commissioned another one (that he can make more detailed as he has seen Gattinera in person) and ripping apart his fanservice photo of Ladybug and apologizing for how he acted.
  • Limited Wardrobe: While she has a larger wardrobe than usual, Lila also owns three sets of her iconic outfit, and wears one of them every time she can.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Lila, due her mother never being around and having her homeschooled.
  • Noodle Incident: Lila did something at her previous school, leading to her mother deciding to have her homeschooled in Paris.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: By the time of Evillustrator, Lila has this reaction at Chloé getting people Akumatized.
  • Out of Focus: Marinette and most other characters due to the story being told from Lila's point of view.
  • Pædo Hunt: Gattinera's initial relationship with Theo Barbot, and Copycat by extension. To Theo's credit, the glamour generated by the Miraculous kept him from realizing he was crushing on a teenager, and when he found out, he was appalled at himself.
  • Parental Neglect: Mrs. Rossi is rarely home due to her job, and never gives Lila any attention.
  • Point of Divergence: Namely, Lila meeting Master Fu and passing his test before he can test Adrien.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: Everyone who noticed or suspects Gattinera is gay did so because they think she's in a relationship with Ladybug. While she is gay or bisexual, she's most definitely not in a relationship with Ladybug and didn't even entertain the idea until Alya flat-out asked her if they were dating.
  • Sitcom Archnemesis: Roger manages to be this to both Lila and Gattinera.
  • Transparent Closet: Many in Paris have noticed or suspect Gattinera is gay (though for the wrong reasons), but Lila herself is in denial due to many of her relatives being opposed.
  • Valentine's Day Episode: The story's take on "Dark Cupid", where we learn Lila despises the celebration and finds it without any sense, and wouldn't accept any confession on that day:
"Why wait a whole year to show your love for someone on a specific day when you could show your love every day?"
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Lila and Plagg.
  • When You Coming Home, Dad?: As said above, Mrs. Rossi is rarely home. The one time she actually has time to have lunch with her daughter she turns it into a job lunch at the last moment and ends up not spending a single minute with Lila due to the Bubbler's attack consuming the entire lunch break.
